Position Summary
A Sr. Project Management Office (PMO) Manager is responsible for supervising a subset of the project management office project managers and ensuring their projects align to the standards set by the PMO while assisting the project managers in their professional development. They also aid PMO leadership in continuous improvement opportunities within PMO standards and development of new standards. They are not likely to engage in project management directly unless they manage a program level initiative. They create and implement solutions that help the PMO solve multi-business unit level problems, while considering the enterprise and demonstrating an ability to handle enterprise level problems.
About The Team
The Senior PMO Manager will have direct oversight of a team of project managers within the PMO who support the implementation of enterprise impacting projects on our Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) platform. The role will report directly to the Sr Director of PMO and will work alongside other leaders within the PMO to both add value to the work completed by the project managers within the PMO and add value to the organization through the existence of the PMO.
Primary Responsibilities
- Leads coaching and mentoring of project managers both within and outside of the PMO. Fostering a culture of continuous improvement and best practices.
- Provides strategic and tactical leadership within the PMO leadership team.
- May manage leaders of PMO project managers and develop their project management and leadership skills.
- Conducts thorough project reviews and audits of team members' work, safeguarding the integrity of the PMO's output while helping team members develop in the process.
- Aids in aligning projects with the organization's overall strategy. Facilitates successful prioritize of project manager capacity based on business needs and objectives.
- Ensure effective PMO resource allocation to drive organizational success.
- Fosters collaboration and secure stakeholder buy-in from technology partners and business partners.
- Oversee the allocation of project resource allocation, including personnel, budget, and time. Optimize resource utilization and address potential conflicts, ensuring projects are completed efficiently and effectively.
- Creates and maintain project management methodologies, templates, and processes that improve PMO efficiency and effectiveness and overall company performance through project results.
- Assist in the implementation of technology to support PMO functions.
- Leads, makes decisions, and drives results that positively affect productivity, efficiency, overall customer service levels, and enhances company profitability.
- Collaborates across the organization on continuous process improvement initiatives, assisting in the development of standards, tools, templates and processes that add value to the organization and improves productivity.
- Active participant in internal programs such as: passionate craftsman, ignite, Portfolio Manager CoP, and Senior Leadership Team events
Primary Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, MIS, Business Administration or related field or equivalent experience
- Active Project Management Professional (PMP) certification, demonstrating expertise in project management methodologies preferred, equivalent experience accepted.
- Minimum 7 years of project management or like experience
- Minimum 3 years supervisory experience
Desired Skills
- Experience implementing ERP software/modules, preferably with Oracle Cloud ERP. Significant experience implementing complex changes with supply chain and financial related software is also acceptable.
- Capable of defining and implementing standard processes, tools, and templates to streamline work, provide consistency, and minimize waste while considering the enterprise impact.
- Proven experience collaborating with stakeholders to identify and verify the value stream. Able to define the business case, potential risks and related success criteria for a project. Able to train others on how to develop return on investment and total cost of ownership.
- Able to lead others on how to collaborate with business partners and identify the goals/objectives to develop a project plan that outlines the proposed delivery schedule required to achieve the anticipated value.
- Proven experience identifying project stakeholders, determining their impact, interest and expectations and utilizing that the information to develop a communication plan to keep them informed and allow for initiative-taking decisioning.
- Highly skilled at developing resource plans that optimize resource assignments.
- Exceptional organizational abilities of multiple complex subject matters, while meeting tight deadlines.
- A demonstrated history of leading project managers who successfully deliver complex technology projects, from conception to deployment, demonstrating expertise in project management and value delivery.
- Demonstration of strong team-management and leadership skills, with the ability to motivate and guide cross-functional teams to achieve shared objectives.
- Demonstration of ability to lead leaders, creating the ability to broaden their positive influence.
- Possess deep domain knowledge in an area of business or technical process, with a demonstrated ability to apply that knowledge to complex projects and initiatives.
- A thought leader in information management and adept at implementing and using a wide range of project management tools, such as JIRA, Trello, Asana, and Smartsheet.
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Project, Zoom, Teams, and other productivity tools, with a focus on maximizing efficiency and effectiveness.
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, with creativity and latitude in problem-solving and decision-making.
- Ability to work collaboratively with teams and leaders across different departments, while managing competing priorities and meeting expectations.
