Job Summary
We are looking for a Sheetmetal / Fabrication Estimator to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong aptitude for math, be able to analyze complex blueprints and construction drawings, and have a high level of personal organization and initiative.
Essential Job Functions
- Review project specifications, bid documents, and structural steel notes.
- Perform material take-off for miscellaneous fabrication items and calculate shop labor of those items.
- Write proposal letter to contractors for supplying materials to the project listing materials supplied and items excluded.
- Transmit bid documents to vendors for take-off and pricing of miscellaneous items.
- Prepare budget estimates by analyzing conceptual drawings per customer’s request.
- Review estimate and plans with company Production Manager after job is sold.
- Provide feedback to subcontractor and material suppliers to allow them to better serve our needs.
- Purchase fabrication materials and negotiate pricing with vendors.
- Enter take-off into company estimating system and run reports as required.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Strong aptitude for numbers and the ability to analyze complex blueprints and construction drawings.
- Excellent communication and writing skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Some construction field experience helpful.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with computer software and hardware for estimating: Word, Excel, AutoCAD software
- Experience with purchasing fabrication materials.

Compensation
- $58,000 - $70,000 per year
Schedule
- M-F, 8-hour shift
Ability to Commute/Relocate
- Must be able to reliably commute to Portland, OR 97220 or be willing to relocate before starting work.
Experience
- Experience with fabrication estimating preferred.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $80,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year
