8:15-5:15p Monday through Friday - This is a rotating schedule of opening and closing

Position Summary:

A Child’s Place's ITHAN MONTESSORI PRESCHOOL is seeking ONE full-time, on-site, Teacher's Assistant who will be responsible for the supervision and care of our Montessori students ages 2-4. This is a highly collaborative role working closely with current Montessori teachers. Our team works to promote the social, emotional, academic, and physical growth of our students. Our classroom teachers and assistants are also responsible for building positive, professional relationships with our parents and families to support open and continuous communication. The ideal lead teacher would be comfortable working alongside and providing direction to our assistants, conforming to an established schedule and routine, and participating in the facilitation of the day to day tasks including whole and small group leadership, hands-on learning techniques, classroom management. Ideally this individual would also have their Montessori Teaching Certificate or have an interest in learning more about the Montessori way. This person should be open to student exploration, hands-on learning, learning through play and work, and adapt well to a student driven classroom.

Essentials Duties and Responsibilities:

• Supervise group of students in a variety of settings for the purpose of providing a safe and positive learning environment
• Ensure the safety of students through constant supervision, effective management of space, proper maintenance of equipment, and regular practice of fire drills and other emergency procedures
• Create an open, friendly, and cooperative atmosphere in which children and families feel comfortable and secure
• Design an environment that responds to the children’s individual developmental levels and interests
• Organize and lead activities designed to promote physical, mental, and social development such as games, arts and crafts, music, sing-a-longs, and storytelling
• Provide a variety of language stimulation activities
• Ensure that parents receive adequate information about their child’s experiences at the center through daily contacts, reports, and photograph
• Assist with transitioning onto the next classroom
• Complete appropriate paperwork in a neat and organized manner (i.e. daily reports, incident reports, attendance sheets, medication logs, etc)
• Attend monthly staff meetings and all required trainings for the purpose of receiving and conveying information related to program
• Clean and maintain the classroom/playground environment
• Interact with and engage the children in a positive manner
• Provide constant, supportive and professional communication with coworkers, parents, and children
• Have the ability to conform to an established and consistent work schedule
• Follow all DHS and Keystone Stars requirements
• Adhere to all policies found in the ACP Employee Handbook
• Provide First Aid/CPR in the event of an Emergency, if certified
• All other tasks as needed

Required Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or GED *Required
• 2 years (2,500 hours) of verifiable experience working with children *Required - preference given to experience with the Montessori method.
• Montessori Certification or in the process of obtaining certification - *Required
• Ability to successfully pass and maintain all background/clearance checks.
• Maintain an employee file in accordance with DHS and ACP regulations.
• Lift up to 40 lbs.
• Repetitive bending, stretching, and stooping.
• Climb up and down stairs.
• Have the mobility required to ensure the safety of the children.
• Work with children on the floor.
• Work outdoors in any variety of weather.
• Have visual and hearing capabilities that allow consistent supervision of children with DHS licensing safety requirements.
• Perform light duty cleaning.
• Light typing and word processing
