What are the responsibilities and job description for the Quality Assurance Specialist position at A&E Incorporated?
A&E Incorporated is searching for an experienced Quality Assurance Specialist (1st Shift: weekly schedule split between 6:00am-2:30pm and 8:00-4:30pm). The QA Specialist works under the direction of our Quality Manager to meet and maintain the established quality standards for our materials, products and processes. This role performs a variety of inspections, identifies and records quality issues, analyzes data, implements corrective actions and collaborates with the manufacturing team to drive continuous improvement and plan processes to decrease the instances of defects in our products.
HERE'S WHAT YOU WILL DO
ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Advocate a “Quality First” production mentality.
- Approve incoming products by confirming that all specifications are met and recording dimensional results as necessary.
- Document inspection results at first article inspection, incoming inspection, and during daily periodic floor audits.
- Perform dimensional, visual, and functional checks on products to support Manufacturing and Engineering.
- Complete NCMR reports as necessary for non-conforming products from either external or internal suppliers and reject defective parts or materials.
- Create inspection plans independently or with the assistance and guidance of Manufacturing or Engineering.
- Perform quality reviews and testing of new products prior to, during, and after product launch throughout the manufacturing process.
- Perform capability studies or in-process part layouts as required.
- Recommend modifications of existing quality or production standards to achieve optimum quality within limits of existing capability.
- Calibrate gauges in-house and maintain calibration systems.
- Advise on inspection changes, methods of improvement and scrap minimization.
- Assist in maintaining ISO compliance.
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
KEY REQUIREMENTS, EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE
- Minimum 2-3 years’ experience in quality for manufacturing operations which includes a machining/job shop environment.
- Technical talent and experience in the areas of quality assurance/inspection processes, gauging, fixturing and equipment use is essential.
- Knowledge and hands-on skills of technical quality measurement relations (parallelism, concentricity, true position, roundness, etc. and working knowledge of GD&T.
- Understanding of manufacturing factory floor activities and interrelationships.
- Basic machine understanding background is essential, especially in the areas of CNC machines, drilling, milling, broaching, and punch press.
- Experience using calipers, micrometers, CMM, pin and thread gauges and other precision measuring devices, along with being skilled at laying out a component for measurement.
- Basic time study understanding is required.
- Ability to be organized, flexible, adaptable, and multi-task to meet multiple deadlines working under pressure in fast-paced organization.
- Demonstrated capability to work independently and effectively collaborate and communicate with all levels of the organization.
- Computer literate with demonstrated working experience/knowledge in an ERP environment (Epicor is a plus), and proficiency in MS Office Suite and Outlook.
- Must be able read and write clearly and concisely in English and understand/follow written work instructions, product routings, as well as company policies and procedures.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- QA specific training and/or certificate preferred.
