Summary
The Installer Technician will be responsible for the assembly/disassembly of household furniture, modular and systems office furniture, and wall mounting of Office artwork and televisions. Must have the ability to read and interpret floor plans, sketches, and/or diagrams to install/assemble various products including, but not limited to, modular/systems furniture, art work, office furniture, home or office products.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:
- Ability to establish and maintain a strong customer focused working relationship
- Familiarity of the installation processes with various types and manufactures systems furniture
- Installs various types of wall mounted TVs/electronics, modular furniture, pictures, wall art and mirrors on various types of wall surfaces and construction, per customer specifications
- Assists with loading/unloading furniture into and out of trucks, warehouses, and on jobsites; to include unpacking of furnishings and other duties as assigned
- Ability to read floor plans, sketches, and diagrams to determine proper placement and installation of various products
- Owns and maintains a set of tools for the assembly/disassembly/reassembly and installation of various furniture, both residential and commercial/office; as well as the mounting of TVs/electronics, artwork and mirrors
- Ability to provide viable repairs to furnishings, as required
- Adheres to all OSHA regulations in accordance with Company Safety Policy
- Actively participates in moving materials, equipment, furniture, household goods including the packing and crating of valuables and hard-to-move items
- Responsible for maintaining a clean, safe worksite and assigned truck at all times
- Attending/reviewing project briefings and demonstrations
- May travel to areas outside the local metro area to install remote projects
- Act as liaison with customer to maintain delivery schedules and overall maintenance of daily procedures
- Review deliverables prepared by team before passing to client
- Minimize company exposure and risk on project
- Ensure project documents are complete, current and stored appropriately
- Supporting Commercial and Model Home projects, as needed
Deliverable
Provide customer with a complete and professional installation, assembly, and wall mounting service that meets or exceeds customer and/or industry expectations. Provide job specific and Lessons Learned reports to supervisors/project management and managers, as required.
Communication
Effectively communicates relevant project information to superiors/project managers. Resolves and/or escalates installation issues in a timely fashion. Identify opportunities for improvement and creates a Lessons Learned report. Daily check in with superiors to advise on progress and what may need follow up.
Technical Understanding
Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all unites of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Ability to read a tape measure and calculate measurements to meet centering and/or height requirements. Ability to apply technical and common sense understanding to carry out detailed written and/or oral instructions. Possesses a thorough understanding of our capabilities.
Maintain awareness of new and emerging technologies and the potential applications for modular and systems furniture.
Qualifications
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required:
- Ability to read, write and comprehend English
- Prior installation experience and familiarity of systems and modular furniture, to include; wall hanging/mounting of artwork and TV/electronics on various types of wall construction and surfaces.
- Possess and maintain a Driver’s License, with the ability to qualify to drive a company passenger van and/or company trucks, is a plus.
Education and/or Experience
High School education or GED equivalent, and at least three (3) years of furniture installation industry related experience.
Language Skills
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business, professional, and technical documents, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
