Salary Range: $16.00 - $19.00 Hourly
Description
POSITION SUMMARY:
This position is responsible for cutting and trimming meat from larger, wholesale portions into steaks, chops, roasts and other cuts. The Meat Cutter would then be responsible for various duties such as weighing, wrapping, and putting meat on display or preparing meat for shipment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Cuts and prepares all varieties and cuts of meat
Sharpen and adjust cutting equipment
Receive, inspect, and store meat upon delivery
Weigh, wrap and display or prepare meat for shipment
Cut or prepare customer orders per their specifications
Keep inventory of meat sales and order meat supplies
Cleans equipment
Follows USDA guidelines and procedures
Assist in other duties as assigned
Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:
HS Diploma or equivalent,
3 years professional meat cutting experience or 3 years professional chef experience
Must be familiar with a variety of cuts of meat and be able to identify where and how these cuts are made
Must be able to read, count accurately, do simple math (addition, subtraction, & multiplication) and write legibly.
Problem-solving ability to think on your feet in a fast-paced environment.
Physical Requirements:
Must be capable of standing and walking for extended periods of time.
Physical ability to lift, carry, and position: up to 20 lbs. regularly, up to 50 lbs. frequently, and up to 100 lbs. occasionally.
Must be able to constantly bend, reach above shoulder, grasp objects, climb, kneel, squat, twist and stand throughout shift.
Must be able to push/pull up to 150 lbs. occasionally
Regularly required to use hands and fingers to handle objects, tools, or controls.
Must be able to perform duties in a work environment of below 40 degrees F.
Work Environment:
Work hours may vary, or change based on department requirements.
The job is primarily performed in the Meat Shop
Regularly exposed to fast moving material handling and other mechanical equipment.
The noise level in the work environment is typically low.
