- Review project specifications, drawings etc. and comment on areas concerning welding, coatings, ITPs, equipment, material, sub-vendors and any other items concerning project quality while ensuring project specifications, industry standards, AGIPPS and relevant code requirements are taken into consideration during these reviews.
- Attend pre-fabrication meetings with sub-contractors to confirm an understanding of the requirements related to an order along with the actual probability of meeting the delivery date required
- Create the project Inspection & Testing Plan (ITP) based on information compiled from client specifications and code requirements.
- Review all vendor supplied Material Test Reports (MTRs) for in-house or sub-contracted fabrication work prior to material being released for fabrication
- Determine outside or 3rd party QC inspection needs while coordinating outside inspection services and performing project-specific meetings with the assigned inspector
- Review NDE requirements with QC Inspector and discuss NDE plan of same (e.g. company, technician, code & specification requirements).
- Review all third party procedures prior to submittal to the customer for use on a project.
- Review all NDE reports for compliance with the relevant specifications prior to final acceptance.
- Coordinate, witness and/or monitor the qualification of new welding procedures and welder qualifications for in-house use and for subcontractors (where applicable.)
- Inform Project Managers of any changes in sub-vendor approval list for quality related issues.
- Assist QMS Coordinator in NCR maintenance, problem solving, lessons learned, etc.
- Assist the QC Inspector with sub-vendor audits and maintenance of results while maintaining the appropriate sub-vendor spreadsheet.
- Create or assist in creating audit forms, inspection forms, QC logs, or any other forms necessary to report findings expected by AGIPPS.
- Determine required levels of inspection in order to give proper quality inspection coverage, which must be determined and agreed upon prior to assigning outside inspection to a particular vendor/sub-vendor.
- Provide assistance to the QC Inspector while ensuring QC functions are properly being performed in a timely manner.
- Verify that material, welding and welder traceability is being properly maintained.
- Verify inspection tools are properly maintained and calibrated.
- Ensure that all required inspections and audits will be conducted as needed and results properly reported to the GM, Project and Fabrication Departments.
- Fill QC Inspector’s role when that individual is not available or on site.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the appropriate personnel .
Requirements
1.1 Education:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
1.2 Licenses/Certificates:
- CWI preferred
1.3 Experience:
- 5 – 10 years fabrication related and/or Quality Control experience
1.4 Skills:
- Ability to read and comprehend fabrication codes, specifications, and drawings
- Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing
- Excellent time-management skills with the ability to work independently
- Good mechanical aptitude
- Exhibits good organizational skills with a keen attention to detail and ability to multi-task in a fast pace environment
- Ability to manage people through appropriate and effective communication while delegating responsibilities appropriately
