Overview

The Drafter/CAD Operator IV provides technical drafting and facility management support for NSWC Corona Division’s infrastructure and facility projects. This contract role involves creating and maintaining detailed technical drawings, BIM/CAD models, and infrastructure planning documents to support facility operations, renovations, and new construction. They work closely with engineers, planners, and facility managers to ensure that as-built documentation is accurate, up-to-date, and compliant with DoD and Navy specifications. The Drafter/CAD Operator IV contributes to strategic space planning, infrastructure assessments, and facility optimization efforts to support mission readiness.

TASKS

The Drafter/CAD Operator IV provides advanced technical support for Computer-Aided Facility Management (CAFM) and Building Information Modeling (BIM). Key responsibilities include:

Technical Drafting & Design Support:

  • Scan and archive as-built drawings and documents.
  • Convert as-built drawings into detailed BIM CAD drawings, 3D models, and 2D project drawings.
  • Work with engineers, architects, and planners to produce plan drawings, site plans, and base maps.


Construction and Infrastructure Drafting:

  • Draft and illustrate maps, diagrams, and plans for construction projects, including utilities, roads, and structures.
  • Ensure infrastructure assessment surveys are conducted and that drawings reflect accurate, real-world conditions.


Project Documentation & Facility Operations:

  • Prepare drafting instructions, desk guides, and processes for facility operations.
  • Coordinate space configurations, including field verifications, room numbering, employee assignments, signage, and furniture/equipment inventory .


Qualifications

Education and Experience:

  • A minimum of an Associate’s degree but preference is a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Architecture.
  • American Design Drafting Association Certification is required.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of relevant experience in technical drafting and 3D modeling, as well as with experience in CAD/BIM applications that include Revit, AutoCad, and Autodesk


Skills and Requirements:

  • Experience drafting and illustrating construction, site, and infrastructure plans.
  • Ability to convert as-built drawings into CAD and 3D models.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD, Revit, and Building Information Modeling (BIM) is required.
  • Understanding of facility management, space planning, and infrastructure assessment surveys.
  • Strong attention to detail and technical accuracy in document preparation.


Security and Compliance:

  • Must be a U.S. citizen.
  • DoD SECRET clearance is required.
