Salary : $25-$45 / hour
General Job Description :
The Project Engineer is responsible for providing support to the Project through the gathering & disbursement of
information to the field and office, the procurement and tracking of all material & purchases, and in balancing and
coordinating the activities of a project. This is to ensure cost remains on budget, the schedule remains on time, and
document control and quality standards are met. Under the direction of the Project Manager, the Project Engineer is
expected to take on any & all tasks in the quest to learn all he / she can about construction and to serve the project team
in successfully completing their assigned tasks.
Primary Responsibilities :
Gather and Disburse information to and from the office staff, field staff, and client staff.
Procure materials while in the most cost effective manner possible.
Track all purchases and deliveries keeping the project schedule in mind
Assist the Project Manager & Field Staff in all phases and aspects of the project.
Follow the Companies Best Practices policies and procedures, and ethical policies at all times.
Work Deliverables :
The results that are expected from a top performing Project Engineer / Assistant PM
Project Setup : Ensure that proper tools are in place prior to the beginning of a project.
Assist and prepare materials for pre-installation (Turnover) meetings.
Review contract and become familiar with terms & conditions.
Ensure subcontractors have the most up to date scopes of work. Assist PM in the development of the
overall project schedule.
Work to obtain all necessary permits as requested by the PM / Sponsor.
Ability to review drawings and specifications to become completely familiar with the project, identify long
lead times, and critical path items.
Complete sub evaluations / comparisons of bids, scope review, and complete buyout as requested byPM /
Sponsor
Develop a project submittal log and obtain designers approval.
Manage said submittal log and ensure all submittals are processed promptly.
Operational Excellence : Plan effectively.
Attend project meetings as requested by PM and keep detailed meeting minutes for publishing to project
team.
Draft, submit, and track all RFIs and distribute to all team members as appropriate.
Review project logs (RFIs, Submittals, COs) with PM and Foreman on a weekly basis.
Pursue and monitor submittals and track deliveries of materials. Verify all submittal conformity to plans&
specifications. Report any inconsistencies to the PM / Sponsor.
Print and submit project labor report weekly with the current hours worked and code classification
to foreman / labor manager
Collect and distribute drawings. Review drawings with PM and Foreman
Collect subcontractor changes for review by the PM.
Procure, process, coordinate, and track all purchases delivery status and location on and off site.
Review, authorize, and execute payment applications (vendor billings, invoices, and credits) pertaining to the
project
Review and code invoices. Check for accuracy and compare to cost to complete forecast.
Complete quantity take-offs as requested by estimating and PM. Aid with the creation of Change Estimate.
Order, coordinate, and track the delivery / pickup and location of all material and rental equipment pertaining to
the project.
Collect cut sheets for general material, fixtures, switchgear, and other materials in order to assemble / create a
submittal or close out package for PM and Foreman review approval. Provide copies of all submittals to the
foreman / labor manager.
Coordinate material buyouts and phasing with PM
Draft, maintain, and ensure accurate and efficient filing of internal documents pertaining to the project
Ensure current project drawings / plans are printed; slip sheeted and / or uploaded to the job folder and PlanGrid
Ensure that all project team members are working off the correct contract documents; specifically plans,
submittals, and other contracted scopes of work.
