Job Title: Billing Specialist I - Billing / Copay Specialist
Location: Monroeville, PA
Pay Rate: $19.50 per hour
Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM (Hybrid – Required to be in office 4 times per month and for additional meetings as needed)
Lunch: 30-minute unpaid lunch
Position Summary:
The Billing Specialist I – Billing / Copay Specialist is responsible for managing patient assistance program (PAP) cards to assist with co-pays. The role involves calling manufacturers, patients, and third-party payers to obtain necessary information for co-pay assistance cards, entering this data into the system, and submitting it to the billing system. This position requires working with multiple operating systems and web-based platforms to resolve outstanding claims and issues while ensuring that all billing processes comply with healthcare reimbursement protocols.
Key Responsibilities:
- Contact manufacturers, patients, and assistance programs to obtain the necessary co-pay assistance cards and related information.
- Load the provided information into the system and submit it into the billing system for processing.
- Work with third-party payers, assistance programs, and patients to resolve outstanding claims and reimbursement issues.
- Utilize several operating systems and web-based programs to communicate with multiple entities to resolve issues.
- Prioritize daily tasks to meet deadlines and maintain accuracy in billing and reimbursement processes.
- Maintain proper documentation and records in compliance with company standards and healthcare regulations.
- Provide exceptional customer service in a team-oriented environment.
- Collaborate effectively with other departments and team members to resolve issues.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 1 year experience in healthcare reimbursement, medical insurance billing, or a related field.
- At least 1 year of experience working with healthcare reimbursement systems.
- Working knowledge of medical terminology.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively.
- Strong customer service skills with the ability to work in a team environment.
- Must have a verifiable High School diploma or GED.
Physical Demands:
- The position requires the ability to sit at a desk for extended periods and perform tasks on a computer.
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
Work Environment:
- Hybrid work schedule with required in-office attendance 4 times per month and for additional meetings as needed.
