Title: Lead Quality Data Engineer
Location: Troy, MI – Hybrid (Can be remote for the right candidate)
Rate: $60.00/hr
Note: This is a contract to hire on W2. THIS IS NOT OPEN TO C2C.
Position Summary
We have an exciting opportunity for a passionate Lead Quality Assurance Engineer who has the right balance of testing aptitude, technical skills, and leadership skills. Someone who prefers automation over manual testing and loves data! We are looking for someone who can collaborate with business and technical leaders, stakeholders, and development teams to strategize, design, and implement functional tests, and a full spectrum of automated test types for our data processes utilizing modern technology.
Required Experience (Must Have)
- Quality Assurance Experience (Minimum 5 years experience)
- Experience in Data Testing and Data Quality Analysis
- Ability to establish and validate quality gates for our multi-tiered solutions using modern tools and methodologies with a goal for technical excellence
- Solid and demonstratable knowledge of testing techniques and best practices
- Define and communicate QA Plans that describe required test efforts for any given project
- Proven analytical skills to define test scenarios and determine root cause of problems in a complex environment
- Identify new automation opportunities & communicate solutions
- Contain a mindset that automation is greater than manual testing
- Technical Experience (Minimum 5 years experience)
- Strong database experience and SQL or No-SQL skills with the ability to work with large data sets
- Ability to write code in Python, and utilize modern Python frameworks such as PySpark, PyTest, Pandas, etc.
- Design and create modular, reusable, and reliable test automation solutions
- Experience with git, pull requests, branching and able to support testing of multiple releases in parallel
- Understands CI/CD pipelines and able to enhance them for testing needs
- Data Testing Experience
- Experience testing ETLs, data conversions, data migrations, etc.
- Ability to test the quality of the data without the use of visual interfaces
- Experience in designing and implementing data quality strategies and developing data testing automation
- frameworks.
- Must be a strong, collaborative leader
- Minimum 2 years experience leading other QA engineer(s) and/or technical resources
- Provide constructive feedback to improve quality and communicate effectively
- Manage multiple competing priorities while mitigating risks to the business
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment
- Must be a critical thinker with excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
Helpful Experience (Nice to Have)
- Any Quality Assurance certification from an accredited organization (e.g., ASQ)
- Testing tools research and due diligence
- Programming language experience: C#, TypeScript, JavaScript
- Experience in testing in modern technology stacks, including Kubernetes, AWS, Data Lakes, SQL & No-SQL Databases, microservices, APIs, etc.
