The Church Maintenance Manager plays a vital role in ensuring that all areas of the church building and grounds are safe, functional, and well-maintained. This part-time position is responsible for overseeing day-to-day facility operations, coordinating repairs, performing basic handyman tasks, and supporting a clean and welcoming environment for all church members, staff, and visitors.

The ideal candidate has a background in construction, maintenance, or facilities management, and is proactive, organized, and capable of identifying and addressing facility needs before they become issues. This role supports the mission of the church by providing a clean, safe, and distraction-free space for worship, ministry, and community outreach.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILTIES

The Maintenance Manager will be responsible for, but not limited to the following duties:

· Conduct regular inspections of the church building, grounds, and equipment to identify maintenance needs

· Perform routine repairs including plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and general handyman work

· Coordinate with external contractors and service providers for specialized repairs and maintenance tasks

· Ensure HVAC systems, lighting, and security systems are functioning properly

· Monitor and maintain inventory of maintenance supplies, tools, and equipment

· Oversee seasonal maintenance such as snow removal, lawn care, and exterior upkeep

· Respond promptly to maintenance-related emergencies or facility issues

· Set up and break down spaces for church services, events, and community functions as needed

· Maintain records of maintenance work, schedules, warranties, and equipment manuals

· Ensure the facility meets health and safety standards at all times

· Work collaboratively with church staff and ministry leaders to support facility needs

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in building or facility maintenance
  • 4 years of experience in handyman work, construction, or a related trade preferred

· Basic knowledge of plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and HVAC systems

· Experience managing vendors or coordinating with contractors is a plus

· Familiarity with health and safety standards related to building maintenance

· Prior experience working in a church or nonprofit setting is helpful but not required

· Motivation to work independently or with others to provide thorough, efficient custodial services to the church.

· An active member supporting the vision and values of APOC Ministry.

· Able to efficiently multitask, maintaining control over many projects simultaneously.

· Cooperative team member who respects organizational policies and procedures.

COMPUTER/TECHNICAL SKILLS REQUIRED SKILLS

· Basic proficiency with email and calendar applications (e.g., Outlook, Gmail, Google Calendar)

· Ability to use mobile apps or digital work order systems for tracking maintenance tasks

· Familiarity with spreadsheets or simple recordkeeping tools (e.g., Excel or Google Sheets)

· Comfort using online portals for ordering supplies or coordinating with vendors

· Ability to access and read digital equipment manuals or instructional videos

· Familiarity with basic building automation systems (e.g., thermostats, lighting controls, or security systems)

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $16.00 - $23.00 per hour

Expected hours: 20 per week

Work Location: In person
