Job Description

A & R Clinical Services and Crisis Management, LLC (ARCSCM) is contracted with the Virginia Department of Corrections (VDOC). We are looking for qualified Mental Health Counselor's to join our team to provide multilevel Substance Use Disorder Treatment (SUD), for a single project. You will provide emotional, administrative, and clinical support to clients in either an individual or group setting. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing mental health counseling services to specific mental health facilities throughout the state of Virginia, which are designated by the VDOC. The Candidate must have experience in all necessary clinical, counseling, and therapeutic counseling with applications of appropriate clinical theories. In addition, ARCSCM’s objective is to provide efficient and qualified mental health services to the VDOC.

Responsibilities:

  • Assess nature of clients' situations by interviewing and reviewing personal history
  • Develop and execute individual treatment plans
  • Determine appropriate milestones to gauge client progress
  • Communicate client updates to all relevant parties
  • Facilitate referrals to other healthcare professionals and programs
  • Maintain accurate client documentation
  • Intensive Outpatient Group Counseling
  • Provide a minimum of nine (9) hours of intervention per week to the clients including process groups and individual counseling as deemed clinically appropriate. (The recommended group size shall be determined by the curriculum).
  • Conduct Bio-Psychosocial Assessments
  • Perform validated screening instruments, evaluations/assessments on clients referred by the Purchasing Agency.
  • Develop an individualized treatment plan for each clients. Elements of the plan shall include the development of individual treatment goals and objectives, strategies to achieve them, and an estimated completion date. The treatment plan shall also include requirements to complete treatment and potential consequences of failing to comply with the treatment plan. The clients and Contractor shall review and sign the treatment plan. The signed treatment plan shall be submitted to the supervising Probation and Parole Officer
  • Program Requirement Counseling Services – (ASSESSMENT)
  • Provide one (1) or more of the substance abuse treatment services and/or interventions.
  • Perform validated screening instruments, and evaluations/assessments on clients
  • Establish and maintain a case file for each referred clients utilizing their Virginia CORIS
  • Collaborate with the supervising Probation and Parole Officer on the initial validated risk/needs assessment, supervision, and treatment plan, and needed revisions. The treatment plan shall address identified needs, triggers for high-risk or non-compliant behaviors, evidence-based services treatment objectives, and estimated completion time.
  • Report missed intake, case management or treatment sessions, positive drug and/or alcohol tests, and knowledge of high-risk or non-compliant behaviors to the supervising Probation and Parole Officer
  • Provide a written Participant Monthly Progress Report,
  • Participate in meetings as needed to promote case management, to support clients treatment plan compliance and to address contract related issues.
  • Develop an individual relapse prevention plan for each clients prior to their successful completion of treatment that identifies personal cues and triggers.
  • Provide a Written Discharge Summary to the supervising Probation and Parole Officer
  • Ensure that community safety issues override the usual rights of confidentiality.
  • Comply with and support the practice of non-confidentiality and community safety by practicing the following protocol:
  • Maintain contact with the appropriate Department of Corrections’ personnel responsible for monitoring treatment progress (Chief Probation & Parole Officer or designee).
  • Immediately address community safety issues by cooperating with appropriate Department of Corrections’ personnel and to report an incident in which the clients is a threat to safety to him/herself or others.
  • Record, maintain and provide upon request statistical data relative to the contract. At a minimum, shall be required to have access to and be proficient in word processing and data management application

These sessions shall be conducted by a CSAC or higher.

Individual Session: provide individual sessions of 60-minutes as an adjunct to outpatient counseling services. The objective of such session shall be to determine individual treatment needs, overcome individual obstacles to the completion of treatment, or address other issues that are not appropriate in a group setting.

GENERAL REQUIREMENTS (Must Be)

  • Certified Substance Abuse Counselor (CSAC)
  • Certified Criminal Justice “Addictions” Professional (CCJP), or professional equivalent to delivering the substance abuse treatment service on a full-time or part-time basis. The acceptable certifications are CSAC (issued by the Department of Health Professions), CCJP (issued by the Virginia Certification Board)
  • Certified CADC (Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor), CAADC (Certified Advanced Alcohol and Drug Counselor),
  • CCS (Certified Clinical Supervisor) issued by the Virginia Certification Board
  • Resident in Substance Abuse Treatment (issued by the Virginia Department of Health Professions)
  • Resident in Counseling (issued by the Department of Health Professions).
  • Licensed Substance Abuse Treatment Practitioner (LSATP)

Additionally, an LCSW, LPC, RN, MD, or Ph.D. with 100 hours of substance abuse-specific training will be accepted.
