What are the responsibilities and job description for the Piping VDC Designer position at A&R Mechanical Contractors, Inc.?
Accountabilities:
VDC Design
- Analyze/interpret construction drawings/specifications.
- Generate fabrication documents for use in fabrication shops/ field installation.
- Support fabrication shop foreman with information necessary to complete fabrication in an efficient/organized manner.
Develop Fabrication Drawings
- Implement fabrication level content using Revit.
- Export model content for use in Navisworks.
- Lead in the 3D design/detailing of mechanical systems
Modeling
- Provide 3D design and BIM (Building Information Modeling) leadership to construction efforts, as well as drafting and modeling a variety of mechanical system elements, interpreting construction documents/submittals, and extracting useful data from virtual building models.
- Provide critical design leadership to our in-house mechanical design efforts and the overall business by providing the creation of content/deliverables with Revit as the main tool.
- Find efficiencies using the VDC process (labor, material, system efficiency/efficacy)
- Review “clashed” Navisworks models with comments/changes.
Qualifications:
- 2-4 years experience in the use and application of Revit for producing construction and fab drawings.
- Experienced/skilled with use of Revit Family Editor for creation/management of custom families.
- Competent in the use and application of Navisworks, AutoCAD and Bluebeam.
- Competent in the use and application of AutoCAD/Naviswork.
- 4-6 years' experience in the construction industry.
Education/Experience:
- Experience with mechanical systems design and fabrication.
- 2- or 4- year degree in Computer Aided Drafting Related Program (or related Trade experience).
- Experience with Revit Fabrication Products (CADMep, CAMduct).
