Job Summary :
We are seeking an experienced Assistant Controller with extensive expertise in non-profit accounting and compliance. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in managing the financial operations of our non-profit entities while also overseeing some general accounting functions of our for-profit entities. The Assistant Controller will lead the non-profit accounting team, assist with cash flow management across the organization, and ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP, GATA, and industry standards. Key Responsibilities :
- Non-Profit Accounting Leadership : Oversee financial reporting, fund accounting, and grant management for non-profit entities
- Cash Flow Management : Assist the Controller in preparing cash flow forecasts for both for-profit and non-profit entities, and participate in cash decision-making processes.
- Month-End Close : Lead the month-end close process for non-profit entities, ensuring accurate and timely reconciliations, journal entries, and financial reporting.
- Audit and Compliance : Manage external audit processes, prepare necessary documentation for auditors, and ensure compliance with non-profit regulations, including grant management and donor reporting.
- Internal Controls and Process Improvement : Implement and maintain strong internal controls to enhance operational efficiency, mitigate risk, and ensure financial accuracy.
- Team Leadership : Supervise the non-profit accounting team, including Senior Accountants, ensuring proper delegation of tasks and promoting a culture of collaboration and growth.
- Support for For-Profit Functions : Oversee general accounting functions, including general ledger management, and provide assistance with financial reporting for for-profit entities as needed.
- Financial Analysis : Provide financial analysis and insights to assist with strategic planning and decision-making.
- Collaboration with Real Estate Accounting : Work closely with the property management accounting team to ensure accurate reporting for real estate operations related to subsidized housing programs
