Schedule : 7am-3pm, 3pm-11pm, 11pm-7am, 7am-7pm, 7pm-7am weekdays / weekends
Assignment : Local Per Diem | Start Asap | Long Term Care & Assisted Living
Pay Rate : $22- $23 / hourly
Position Summary :
As a Medication Aide, you will primarily be responsible for administering or assisting in the administration of medication and treatments in accordance with a resident's healthcare provider's orders. You will also be responsible for assisting residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) and Instrumental Activities of Daily Living (IADLs), providing general supervision, and respecting residents' rights and needs of choice.
Required Qualifications
Medication Administration training / certification per state requirements
Experienced Caregiver or Certified Nursing Assistant Certification (CNA) per state requirements
High School Diploma or GED or 1-2 years of relevant experience
The ability to work a full shift, come to work on time and work overtime as needed
The ability to work according to the necessary schedule to meet job requirements with or without reasonable accommodation
Preferred Qualifications
Experience as a Medication Technician (Med Tech) / Certified Medication Aide (CMA) in senior living

Additional Requirements
The Medication Technician will be responsible for keeping current both NAI and NAII listings with the Board of Nursing and Division of Facility Services, and certifications in Healthcare Provider CPR per Health Services policy. Medication Technicians will perform a narrowly defined set of tasks when administering medications. Administration of medication is needed with verification of a person, drug, dosage, route, and time. Proper documentation per protocol is then made including time of administration. Licensed nurses may only delegate the technical components of medication administration to Medication Technicians as specified in the North Carolina Board of Nursing rules 36 NCAC.0221(b).
Medication Technicians will have access to a licensed nurse at all times, which may include the telephone triage nurse.
Medication Technicians may only administer, verify, and / or monitor the subcutaneous injection of insulin, no other medication.
Medication Technicians may not administer any medication via intradermal (including Tuberculin Skin Test), intramuscular, or intravenous injection route.
Medication Technicians may not obtain medications from the Starter Dose Kits, documented, or stock narcotics.
Job Description :
Administers prescribed medications to patients and maintains related medical records under the supervision of NURSE, GENERAL DUTY : Verifies identity of patient receiving medication and records name of drug, dosage, and time of administration on specified forms or records.
Presents medication to patient and observes ingestion or other application, or administers medication, using specified procedures.
Takes vital signs or observes patients to detect responses to specified types of medications and prepares reports or notifies designated personnel of unexpected reactions.
Documents reasons prescribed drugs are not administered.
Gives direct patient care, such as bathing, dressing, and feeding patients, and assisting in examinations and treatments.
May receive the supply of ordered medications and apportion, mix, or assemble drugs for administration to patients.
May record and restock medication inventories.
