Job Opportunity: Direct Support Professional (DSP) / Caregiver
We are looking for compassionate and dedicated Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) / Caregivers to join our team! Your role will involve supporting elderly or disabled individuals in their daily lives, both at home and in the community.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist clients with daily living tasks such as grooming, eating, and bathing.
- Provide updates and care results to relevant parties.
- Work collaboratively with clients and their families to ensure optimal care.
- Maintain a safe, comfortable, and healthy living environment.
- Perform household tasks including making beds, laundry, and meal preparation.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience in personal care or related fields is preferred.
- A compassionate, caring nature with the ability to build rapport with clients.
- At least one year of full-time or equivalent part-time experience (paid or volunteer) in supporting individuals with developmental or intellectual disabilities.
- Certification requirements (don't worry, we can help you obtain these certifications quickly if needed):
- TOVA
- First Aid
- CPR
- Driver's License and access to a car
- TB test result
- High school diploma or equivalent
Knowledge and Skills:
- Understanding of developmental and intellectual disabilities, mental health, and related physical conditions.
- Familiarity with first-aid practices, behavior management, and hygiene standards.
- Ability to follow policies, engage in care, and support the training and rehabilitation of clients.
- Capability to teach self-care skills like dressing and grooming.
- Effective observation, documentation, and communication skills.
- Ability to perform basic math and maintain positive relationships with clients and coworkers.
Experience:
- A minimum of one year (full-time or equivalent part-time, including volunteer work) in the care, training, or support of individuals with developmental/intellectual disabilities or mental health conditions.
