Summary:
The Systems Administrator I will perform all aspects of systems administration and development including servers, applications, Group Policy Objects (GPO) and databases. Support server and desktop system migrations and release management for standard and in-house or custom systems and applications.
In general, the SA I works directly for the Information Technology manager and is responsible for all aspects of the information campus network (iCAN). This includes:
- Perform systems security administration functions
- Build new servers using the AGM and maintain/de-commission old servers
- Performs data backup (daily incremental backups plus weekly full backups) and restoration functions
- Perform server hardware and software support including but not limited to application installation, maintenance, administration, security and end user support
Other duties in support of the iCAN as identified by management
Requirements
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Perform server hardware and software support including but not limited to application installation, maintenance, administration, security and end user support for both NIPR and SIPR networks for both physical and virtual platforms
- Perform system level functions to include troubleshooting, tracking, resolving and documenting of system-level trouble tickets.
- Ensuring compliance with applicable Security Technical Implementation Guidance (STIG) and other directive requirements
- Maintain system documentation and logs in accordance with the Department of the Army and Carlisle Barracks regulations and policies
- Monitors and manages system resources, including CPU usage, disk usage, and response times to maintain operating efficiency using ITIL processes for issue resolution
- Writes or modifies custom scripts to resolve performance problems and automate systems administration tasks
- Maintain data backups of all server equipment to ensure all data is recoverable at any given time
- Communicates regularly with technical, applications and operational staff to ensure network integrity and security
Other Duties and Responsibilities:
- Install and Trouble shoot applications such as Host Base Security System (HBSS), Host Intrusion Prevention System (HIPS) and virus scan software such as McAfee Anti-Virus
- Administer and maintain SharePoint (version 2010 or newer)
- Work with System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM: aka configMgr) 2012 or newer
- Be able to write and/or edit batch/script files for automation and other support needs
- Ability to work with Group Policy Objects
- Ability to work with SQL Server 2012 or newer
- Ability to understand and work with network switches and firewalls
- Establish and maintain complete wireless infrastructure
- Ability to work with Army Gold master image and it’s processes and procedures
- Work with vMWare and vSphere technology
- Assist in establishing the site COOP plan
- Active directory management
- Assist with software push for remediation via various platforms
- Work with Assured Compliance Assessment Solution (ACAS)
- Understand and work with a storage area network (SAN)
- Possess investigative skills to assist in external entity request for information
- Create, review and adhere to security Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs);
- Monitor and maintain system health and security using various tools
- Provide end-to-end technical support and problem resolution;
- Able to keep up with emerging technology trends relating to security and risk management
- Occasionally may require adjusted work schedules and/or overtime to include week-ends;

Qualifications:

Education and/or Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in IT Systems Administration or related field, and/or training and two years full-time directly related work experience and knowledge.
Language Skills:
Ability to effectively communicate information in one-on-one and small group situation to clients, producers and other employees of the organization.

· Ability to analyze system requirements and issues within the iCAN, and apply or remediate the same
· Ability to take guidance from outside sources for installation and or trouble shooting of network systems/applications and apply to hardware available
Computer Skills:
· Experience with Windows 10 Desktop OS
· Experience with Windows 2012r2/16/19 Server OS
· Working knowledge with SCCM 2012
· Working knowledge with HBSS/Hips
· Active Directory Structure
· Remote Access (Dameware or equivalent)
· Remedy ITSM ticketing system
· Working knowledge of Share Point 2013
· Knowledge of backup/restore processes and systems
· Working knowledge of virtual environments (vMware)
· Understanding of SQL Server
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
· Ability to obtain Government Security clearance.
· Must have CompTIA Security certification.
· Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate (MCSA) or Microsoft Certified Systems Expert (MCSE) a plus
· VCP6-DCV VMware certified professional a plus
