Description
Position Overview : The Staff Accountant is responsible for, but not limited to, maintaining the day-to-day accounting functions, accruals, financial statement preparation, and performing general accounting functions, as required.
Experience Level : 5 Years
Education : Preferred : Associate's degree or higher in one or more of these fields-Business or Accounting or equivalent experience.
Status : Full-time
Clearance : Clearable but no requirement to apply for a clearance
Start date : As soon as possible but no firm contract date to meet
Reporting : To the Financial Controller
Requirements
- Project Accounts Receivable Billing
- Contract Maintenance and Backlog
- Daily bank deposits and cash application
- Reconcile monthly bank deposits
- Post journal entries and reconcile general ledger accounts as needed
- Assist with financial statement review
- Assist Controller with month-end closing process
- Act as back-up to Accounts Payable, to keep the department running smoothly
- General ledger maintenance
- Maintain organized files for Client Billing
- Assistance with the annual budget and audit processes
- Maintain financial document retention files
- New Project setup and maintenance
- Vendor statement reconciliation and discrepancies
- Perform other related duties as may be requested by the Comptroller
- Enter accounting related information into business logs
- Organize and update Client Project Files
- Daily Cash position notifications
- Assist with preparation of documentation for external audit
- Willingness to be flexible and adaptable to change
- Excellent customer service
- Proficient in accounting software (3 years minimum experience)
- Extensive knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles
- 3-5 years Full Charge Bookkeeping experience
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Ability to prioritize and multi-task in a fast paced work environment
- Highly organized and detail oriented
- Able to complete tasks accurately and timely with minimal supervision
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Thrives in a collaborative, team player office environment
- Ability to interface well with staff and external contacts of the Authority
- Proven ability to maintain confidentiality
- Strong organizational skills
