What are the responsibilities and job description for the Staff Accountant - Accounts Receivable position at Support Functions?
The Staff Accountant (A/R) is responsible for the day-to-day activities related to accounts receivable transactions (including credit cards, process consigned fuel invoices, EFT and analyze customer accounts and other charges).
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Review and process consigned fuel invoices for commission agents (CA).
- Verify and post daily credit card receipts to the customer accounts.
- Communicate with fuel vendors and merchant services to resolve credit card related issues.
- EFT customer accounts daily according to their payment terms, company policy and procedures.
- Analyze customer accounts bi-monthly, to return excess credit on the account.
- Check fuel vendors portal for non-fuel recurring charges, create import files and import the charges to customer accounts.
- Review and post checks and wire receipts.
- Review fuel inventories and troubleshooting any inventory variance.
- Work with accounting customer service, assist in responding customer and field operation requests.
- Monitor customer account details for non-payments, delayed payments and other irregularities related to open receivables.
- Participate in training to improve the knowledge on the accounting software or any industry/accounting specific topics.
- Maintains historical records by filing documents.
- Protects organization's value by keeping information confidential.
- Other duties as assigned.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- Diploma or certificate in accounting.
- 1-2 years accounting experience required.
- Knowledge of the petroleum industry desired.
- Proficiency in Excel and Word.
- Solid understanding of basic bookkeeping and accounts receivable principles.
- Proven ability to calculate, post and manage financial records.
- High degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Ability to multi-task.
- Excellent data entry skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Demonstrates a sense of urgency and ability to meet deadlines.
- Ability to work independently and/or as a team member.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.
- Occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.
- Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery such as a calculator, copy machine and printer.
- Frequently communicates with others. Must be able to exchange accurate information.

Salary : $45,000 - $55,000
