Job Summary: The Mechanical Service Technician is responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration systems for residential, commercial, and industrial clients. This role requires technical expertise to troubleshoot complex issues, ensure system efficiency, and deliver exceptional customer service.
Key Responsibilities:
Installation
- Install HVAC systems, including air conditioners, furnaces, ductwork, and refrigeration units, according to manufacturer specifications and building codes.
- Inspect and test systems to ensure proper installation and operation.
- Configure and connect system controls, wiring, and piping.
Service and Maintenance
- Perform repair on mechanical systems, components and equipment to restore proper operation.
- Test system performance after repairs to ensure all issues are resolved.
- Conduct routine maintenance through the Preventive Services Program.
- Complete maintenance form, provide customers with layout of project options and provide suggestions.
- Create work orders, ensure all notes, time and materials are entered into the system.
- Complete service reports, documenting all work performed and parts used. Update maintenance connection with records, photos, recommendations.
- Perform routine maintenance on HVAC and refrigeration systems, including cleaning, filter replacement, and system inspections.
- Identify potential issues and recommend proactive repairs to prevent breakdowns.
- Maintain detailed service records for each customer.
Repair and Troubleshooting
- Diagnose and resolve issues with HVAC and refrigeration systems, including electrical, mechanical, and airflow problems.
- Replace or repair defective components, such as motors, compressors, and thermostats.
- Calibrate systems to optimize performance and energy efficiency.
Customer Service
- Communicate effectively with customers to explain system issues, repair options, and maintenance recommendations.
- Provide accurate cost estimates and secure customer approval for repairs or replacements.
- Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction by delivering quality workmanship and professional service.
Compliance and Safety
- Follow all safety protocols and company guidelines during installations, repairs, and maintenance tasks.
- Adhere to local, state, and federal regulations governing HVAC and refrigeration work.
- Maintain certifications and licenses required for HVAC service work.
Equipment and Tools Management
- Maintain and ensure proper use of company-provided tools, equipment, and vehicles.
- Report any damaged or malfunctioning tools promptly.
Qualifications:
Education: High school diploma or equivalent, Certification in HVAC systems.
Experience: Field related work experience in HVAC installation, maintenance, and repair.
Skills:
· Technical knowledge of mechanical systems, HVAC equipment and installation processes.
· Knowledge of HVAC and refrigeration systems, components, and industry best practices.
· Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
· Ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical customers.

- Physical stamina and strength to lift and carry equipment or tools weighing up to 100 lbs.

Hours of work: Full Time, Non-Exempt
