Job Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Direct Support Professional to provide essential support and care to individuals with varying needs, including those with autism and other developmental disabilities. The ideal candidate will assist clients in daily living activities, promote their independence, and enhance their quality of life through engaging interactions and tailored support.
Responsibilities
- Assist clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and meal preparation.
- Provide memory care support to individuals requiring assistance in maintaining cognitive functions.
- Engage clients in social activities and community outings to foster social skills and relationships.
- Implement individualized care plans developed by healthcare professionals, ensuring that each client's unique needs are met.
- Assist with medication reminders and basic health monitoring as needed.
- Maintain a clean and safe environment for clients, including light housekeeping duties when necessary.
- Collaborate with families, social workers, and other professionals to ensure comprehensive care for clients.
- Document daily activities and progress in client care records accurately.
Qualifications
- Experience in caregiving or related fields such as home health or social work is preferred.
- Knowledge of memory care techniques and experience working with individuals on the autism spectrum is a plus.
- Ability to prepare nutritious meals according to dietary restrictions or preferences of clients.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to build rapport with clients and their families.
- Patience, empathy, and a genuine desire to help others improve their quality of life.
- Certification in CPR/First Aid or willingness to obtain certification is desirable.
- Must be able to pass background checks as required by state regulations.
