Description
The Assistant Residential Manager works in collaboration with and under the supervision of the Residential Manager to ensure that the day to day operations and quality and appearance of the residence complies with established AABR policy and regulatory standards. The Assistant Manager promotes and encourages a person-centered home environment. The Assistant Manager must possess strong analytical, organizational, advocacy, communication, and leadership skills as well as strong interpersonal and problem-solving abilities.
Essential Job Functions
- Train, assign, direct, supervise and evaluate the work of all direct care staff, shift supervisor and cook/housekeeper.
- Develop staff schedules for shift work and training.
- Ensure staff is trained with the skills necessary to provide the appropriate care and treatment to each individual living in the residence.
- Ensure that Community Inclusion activities are completed as necessary.
- Meet with assigned staff on a regular basis, ensure positive coaching, mentoring and training is provided to enable Staff to reach their full potential.
- Collaborate with Residence Manager to create a positive, collaborative environment within the residence that enables staff to communicate and work cooperatively to serve the individuals.
- Collaborate with Residence Manager foster a spirit of teamwork and unity among staff that allows for a positive work environment, constructive conflict, appreciation of diversity and a creation of cohesiveness and support.
- Meets with manager on a regular basis to provide updates on the people we support in the residence as well as any Staff needs.
- Attends regular Residence administrative staff meetings with Residence Manager, and Shift Supervisors.
- Responsible with the Residence Manager for completing the annual and semi-annual packages that must be completed for the individuals.
- Design quality programs that are geared towards promoting individual's independence health and safety.
- Ensures implementation of goals, plans or methods as provided in service plans.
- Ensure proper maintenance of records and data related to Residential Habilitation Service plans for individuals and other plans.
- Provides oversight of the petty cash monies assigned to the residence.
- Ensures proper oversight of the petty cash monies assigned to the residence.
- Conducts and / or participates in staff meetings and other meeting as appropriate.
- Ensures families and advocates are informed of the individuals' condition and progress.
- Ensures that the program is in compliance with OPWDD regulations and AABR policies.
- Ensures the health and well-being of individuals at all times and assists individuals to live life as independently as possible.
- Performs direct care duties as necessary in absence of staff.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or its equivalent.
- Two (2) years' work experience in a supervisory capacity preferred and preferably in social services and / or developmental disabilities areas.
- Working knowledge of the OPWDD system preferred.
- Must be able to work as part of an Interdisciplinary Team.
- Able to work a flexible full-time schedule including evenings and weekends as per the needs of the facility and in response to emergencies.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office including Word, Outlook and Excel.
- Candidates must be or become certified in Medication Administration (AMAP), First Aid, CPR, SCIP-R and thereafter maintain certification.
- Valid New York State Driver’s License and ability to drive and transport passengers using a 12-15 passenger vehicle, preferred
- Excellent verbal and communication skills.
