About us:

Aaging Better In-Home Care is one of the Inland Northwest’s largest and most trusted providers of quality, affordable in-home healthcare services for seniors, veterans, and disabled individuals of all ages. We are currently hiring a full-time Area Manager for our Spokane Valley location.

We are looking for a fun, upbeat and positive individual who is detail oriented and loves working with office and field staff. You will work closely with clients, case managers, social workers and other local resources as well as oversee office staff and field staff (caregivers, CNA's and HCA's) to maintain a high level of communication, compliance and ensure our clients receive the level of care that we are known for and pride ourselves on. Our office is open Monday through Friday from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm.

Qualifications:

Must possess a strong background in the provision of direct care services in the home or similar environment and/or a medical/nursing-related field. Must be experienced in providing all facets of in-home care for the elderly and disabled, including dementia and/or Alzheimer’s patients. Skills must include knowledge of office and clerical procedures, to include, telephone etiquette, filing, typing, electronic documentation, record maintenance, and employee/client/patient scheduling. Must have at least one year of experience in a healthcare environment providing services to the elderly. An educational background and experience in medical office administration is a strong plus. Must have a working knowledge of computer programs and possess good oral and written skills. Must be able to clear a federal-level background check, have reliable transportation, and possess a valid driver’s license with auto liability insurance. This is a full-time (40-hour) position.

Essential Functions/Duties:

1. Oversee and/or maintain all functions of office related work, such as telephone answering, record/file maintenance, filing, computer use/typing, electronic documentation, and client/employee scheduling;

2. Provide supervision and oversight of office administrative personnel;

3. Interview and hire prospective employees and base hiring decisions on qualifications and company standards (using appropriate judgment in determining applicant qualifications for urgently needed caregiving positions).

4. Ensure company meets and/or exceeds caregiver industry standards for employee training and qualifications/certifications .

5. Instruct new and/or established employees in specific techniques and knowledge of in-home care services as needed (or as requested by executive management team members), to include in-home demonstrations or in-office instruction.

6. Provide evaluations and/or counseling to employees, as appropriate:

  • Discharge employees that do not meet company standards of care or fail to improve in a predetermined fashion
  • Make pay raise recommendations to Executive Director, Regional Director and/or Finance Director based on employee evaluations, educational achievement and/or performance.

7. Conduct client intakes and periodic follow up evaluations; draft client Plans of Care and approved changes to care plans to ensure provision of appropriate services. Ensure Care Plans are signed by employee completing the intake as well as the client.

8. Conduct on-site annual performance evaluations on area employees; conduct other evaluations/supervisory visits, as needed, to ensure quality improvement processes are maintained and appropriate client care plans are being followed;

9. Oversee Administrative Assistant, Care Coordinator and/or Scheduling Coordinator in tracking and updating employee work schedules to ensure continuity and consistency of client care.

  • In the absence of either of these positions, ensure clients are scheduled appropriately and employee schedules are updated and current

10. Provide supervision and oversight of direct care services to clients throughout the assigned areas;

11. When conducting supervisory visits to client homes, ensure all client services are performed and annotated as outlined in approved Care Plans.

12. Be knowledgeable of and adept in assisting clients with ambulation via a Gait Belt, transfers, or use of a Hoyer Lift and be able to instruct employees in the use of such aids/techniques.

13. Be knowledgeable of and consistently utilize universal/infection control precautions and be able to instruct employees in principles and use of such precautions;

14. Coordinate and discuss office issues, employee issues and/or client care with Chief Administrator, Executive Director, Regional Director and/or Finance Director on an ongoing basis or as appropriate;

15. Supervise any marketing strategies and/or activities in the assigned areas, as appropriate, and update CEO, Regional Director and/or Finance Director on activities and/or identified materiel resources needed.

Nonessential Duties:

1. Ensure office is adequately stocked with supplies, as needed, and inform Finance Director of needed items so that they can be added to scheduled orders;

2. Ensure office is maintained in a clean and neat fashion by scheduling cleaning on a regular basis.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $23.00 - $25.00 per hour
