Job Description Summary
AAM is currently seeking candidates for our Machine Operator Trainee training program. The machine operators will learn to operate horizontal presses (Hateburs) and/or vertical heavy steel forging presses.
During this 33-month program, trainees will be taking courses at Macomb Community College and training on the job with our skilled Hatebur Operators. School time and tuition is paid.
The ideal candidate would have prior experience in forging, metal forming processes and/or machine repair/maintenance as a plus. Experience with cold heading is also valuable.

Job Description
- Quality inspection of parts.
- Changing of tools in the machine for quality fixes or job changeovers.
- Using hand tools, pneumatic tools.
- Maintenance to machine.
- Reading blueprints.
- Operating overhead crane for heavy tool changes.
- Other various tasks as needed.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Availability to work rotating first and second shift.
