Job Summary: The Materials Control Manager manages the receipt, storage, and usage of materials to ensure uninterrupted flow of materials in the production pipeline. The Manager, Materials Control, is responsible for ensuring that materials inventory levels are adequate to meet production needs at the assigned location.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Collaborates with the Senior Manager, Inventory Control and other managers and departments to plan and coordinate the receipt, inspection, storage, and usage of materials.
- Closely monitors and controls inventory levels and works with the Supervisor, Warehouse to proactively acquire or move materials to meet production needs.
- Provides input on the evaluation and improvement of materials management processes and policies.
- Leads, trains, and coaches Supervisors, Materials Control and ensures the Supervisor is hiring, training, and coaching team members for assigned location.
- Serves as a model for team members and serves as a point of escalation for complex problems and employee situations.
Education and Experience Requirements:
Bachelors degree in logistics, supply chain management, business administration or a related field preferred, but not required.
A minimum of 5 years of related experience HVAC industry experience, 2 of which are in management. 8 years of related experience is preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Experience in materials management, inventory control, purchasing or a similar role.
- Knowledge of materials management software and systems.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and data analysis tools.
- Excellent organizational, leadership and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
- Attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Knowledge of industry standards and regulations.
Work Environment:
- Reading comprehension skills and ability to read small print.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to stand and walk for 95% of workdays.
- Ability to work in manufacturing facilities and regularly be exposed to varying and extreme temperatures, loud noises, dust, chemical fumes, sharp metal objects and heavy forklift traffic.
