The Employee Relations Manager is responsible for handling workplace conflicts, grievances, and disciplinary actions, ensuring legal and company compliance with relevant policies and procedures. The specialist will also work proactively to foster a positive and productive work environment by promoting employee engagement and supporting compliance initiatives. This role involves developing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for various employee relations subjects and assisting in training organizational leaders and stakeholders on best practices, policies, and compliance requirements.
What You’ll Do
- Address and resolve employee conflicts, complaints, and grievances in a timely, impartial, and effective manner. Act as a neutral third-party mediator between employees and management.
- Provide guidance and support to managers in handling disciplinary actions, ensuring fairness, consistency, and compliance with company policies and legal requirements. Investigate and document incidents leading to disciplinary actions, ensuring proper steps are followed.
- Ensure adherence to company policies, procedures, and legal regulations, including labor laws and employment regulations. Advise leadership on employee relations issues and risk mitigation strategies.
- Develop, maintain, and update Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) related to employee relations, grievances, conflict resolution, and disciplinary actions to ensure consistency and compliance across the organization.
- Assist in creating and delivering compliance and employee relations training for managers, HR professionals, and other relevant stakeholders to ensure a thorough understanding of company policies, procedures, and legal responsibilities.
- Promote a positive and inclusive work environment by proactively identifying and addressing potential employee relations issues. Collaborate with management to create initiatives that support employee morale, retention, and engagement.
- Maintain detailed and accurate records of employee relations cases, investigations, actions taken, and outcomes. Prepare reports for senior leadership and HR teams to inform decision-making.
- conducts exit interviews, summarizes findings, and discusses trends and concerns with senior executive leadership.
- Stay current on labor laws, regulations, and industry standards to ensure the company’s practices are compliant with local, state, and federal laws. Advise on changes to policies and procedures as necessary.
- Provide ongoing support and consultation to management and employees on matters related to employee relations, conflict resolution, and workplace behavior.
- Act as a resource for handling sensitive employee matters.
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field required. Masters degree highly preferred.
- Certification in Human Resources (e.g., SHRM-CP, PHR) or Employee Relations is highly preferred
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in Human Resources
- A minimum of 3-5 years of experience in employee relations, or a related field, with a strong understanding of labor laws, conflict resolution, and workplace best practices
- Healthcare experience preferred
- Must maintain clean background/drug screenings
Expertise Needed
- Hands-on experience with payroll systems and Human Resources Management Software
- Experience in creating SOPs and conducting training for leadership and teams is highly desired.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite or related software
- Thorough knowledge of employment labor laws, regulations, and HR best practices
- Understanding of and management of full employment lifecycle
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- High level of organizational skills and attention to detail
- Excellent judgment and problem-solving skills
- "Can-do” attitude with an entrepreneurial spirit and a desire to increase responsibility
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
Compensation
$60,000-$70,000 annually, however open to negotiation for top applicants!
