What are the responsibilities and job description for the Accounting Clerk position at Abacus Staffing?
The Department of Revenue's Motor Vehicle Division is seeking an Accounting Technician to perform fiscal control functions in the Motor Vehicle Division.
Reporting to the Accounting Technician Supervisor, you will be responsible for the timely and accurate execution of fiscal control functions, such as accounts payable and receivable, payroll preparation, or related general accounting processes.
Pay is $16.00 an hour.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Balance and reconciles accounting records, statements, or reports
- Collects fees or revenues, disburses payments and posts to appropriate accounts
- Compiles, prepares and maintains standard accounting records and reports
- Provides information or interpretation to third parties such as banks, auditors, vendors and governmental entities.
- Processes or records financial transactions such as accounts payable and receivable, payroll, invoices, or requisition in a ledger or computer system.
- Serving as liaison to County Financial Officers
Entry Qualifications
High school diploma/GED and three (3) years of job-related accounting or fiscal experience; or one (1) year of experience at the lower-level Accounting Technician 1 (FIT020) or equivalent position.
Required Skills & Experience
- Experience using accounting software to record & report financial information
- Proven analytical ability
- Demonstrates excellent communication skills
- Proficient in MS Excel
- Experience verifying calculations & daily collections, reconciling with system reports, and recording expenditures on spreadsheets
- Skill in basic accounting
