What are the responsibilities and job description for the Behavioral Health Specialist position at Abacus?
Duties include, but are not limited to , writing intervention notes, file management, research, training / development, and supply management.
- Provide direct support to participants with disabilities and behavior challenges, who request support to participate in program as noted above, Types of support may include communication support and behavior support, etc.
- Facilitate appropriate programming for youth in a specialized program.
- Supervise participants for safety, engage them in person activities, etc.
- Creation and implementation of individual inclusion plans to support participants.
- Complete appropriate documentation (observation forms, behavior document, accident reports, etc.)
- Model appropriate strategies and coach other staff on how to implement.
- Modify program activities as needed or provide alternative activity choices.
- Attend and participate in all required training and staff meetings.
- Effectively communicate important information regarding a child's participation to families (parents, guardians, etc.)
- Manage and recommend appropriate support materials and equipment for participants.
- Dress Code : City shirt, smock, vest, and ID always.
- Ability to communicate effectively verbally and written.
- Knowledge of crisis intervention techniques
- Ability to maintain client records and complete required documentation in a timely manner
