Pay Rate : $19.75 / hourly
Overview :
The City of Virginia Beach Department of Human Services Benefits Division is seeking a talented Benefit Programs Specialist to work in the Energy Unit. Under general supervision, this candidate will determine eligibility for Energy Assistance Programs (Fuel, Crisis and Cooling) and the Water Assistance Program.
Job Duties :
- Conduct interviews with applicants to determine initial eligibility for energy assistance using strong interpersonal skills and interviewing techniques. Establish a rapport with customers to assess their needs and make appropriate referrals to assist customers with their energy assistance needs.
- Evaluate and verify information.
- Understand and apply complex benefit program policies to determine eligibility.
- Complete basic mathematical computations using calculator skills.
- Maintain and update appropriate records and management reports using computer skills and documentation.
- Schedule activities, establish priorities, and comply with deadlines using effective time management and organizational skills.
- Participate in appropriate training sessions to enhance job performance.
