Position Information
Arlington seeks a dedicated individual to join the County's public health team as a dental assistant. This individual will work in the dental clinic and assist the dentist in providing oral health care to eligible County residents, including children and seniors from diverse backgrounds. Duties include but are not limited to :
- receiving and preparing patients for treatment;
- setting up the equipment and instruments needed for each patient;
- taking and processing digital x-rays;
- assisting during dental procedures by using the concepts and skills of four-handed dentistry;
- applying topical anesthetic;
- mixing and applying dental materials (e.g., amalgam and composites);
- placing and removing dental devices (e.g., matrix bands and dental dams);
- sterilizing equipment and cleaning clinical area; and,
- performing administrative support activities, including clinic receptionist duties, record management, ordering supplies, and preparing monthly reports.
