JOB SUMMARY
The Socio-Therapists (ST) main responsibility is to work with children in foster care who are receiving Treatment Family Foster Care (TFFC) services. The STs work with the child and resource parent to facilitate behavior change. The Socio-Therapist is a member of the TFFC team and participates in all planning meetings for the children on their caseload- both treatment planning and case planning meetings. In addition, the Socio-Therapist is required to assist resource parents by resolving issues the children may be experiencing in the foster home, school, or community.
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Visit with the child bi-weekly.
- Responsible for providing services to children and resource parents on an individual, group, and emergency basis.
- Responsible for providing on-going individual crisis support in both the foster home and in school.
- Responsible for assisting with family/sibling visitations if necessary.
- Design, implement, and monitor behavior modification plans (PST Model).
- Participate as a TFFC team member in all planning meetings for the children on her/his caseload.
- Responsible for the timely completion of progress notes in CONNECTIONS.
- Responsible for working with TFFC resource parents in a supportive, professional manner.
- Any other related duties as required

- Computer The Socio-Therapist must be able to use a computer and able to learn software programs
- Office Equipment- The Socio-Therapist is required to operate a fax, copier, scan, and other office equipment.
- Communication - The Socio-Therapist needs to be able to speak, read and write fluently in the English language
- Writing - The Socio-Therapist must be able to write in the English language using correct spelling, grammar, punctuation, etc.
- Lifting - The Socio-Therapist may frequently lift 0-25 lbs., occasionally lift 25-50 lbs., and rarely lift over 50 lbs.
- Push/Pull - The Socio-Therapist may frequently push/pull 0-25 lbs. of force, occasionally push/pull 26-45 lbs. force, and rarely push/pull over 45 lbs.
- Sitting, Standing and Walking The Socio-Therapist will be required to sit, stand and walk throughout the work day.
- Stooping -The Socio-Therapist may occasionally stoop. This is defined as bending body downward by bending spine at the waist.
- Kneeling -The Socio-Therapist may occasionally kneel. This is defined as bending legs at knees to come to rest on knee(s).
- Crouching - The Socio-Therapist may occasionally crouch. This is defined as bending body downward and forward by bending spine and legs.
- Work environment: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee frequently works in an office environment. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate due to talk and movement of the program participants and other co- workers. The noise level can increase on occasion due to yelling or screaming by the participants of the programs.
QUALIFICATIONS
- A Bachelor's Degree or an AA Degree in a related field with 2 year related experience
- Knowledge of mental health conditions necessary.
- Requires good communication and time management skills, effective computer and writing skills
HOURS AND TIME OF WORK
Normal scheduled hours are Monday-Friday 9 to 5.
