JOB SUMMARY
The Volunteer/Grants Coordinator is part of a high-energy team charged with growing philanthropy and visibility for Abbott House. Working collaboratively with the Director of Development and Communications and the Manager of Development and Communications, this individual supports the administrative operations of the department and is responsible for growing its community engagement and grant writing initiatives.
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Volunteer and Community Engagement:
- Manage and cultivate volunteers and community members to enhance their relationships with Abbott House.
- Work with Human Resources to ensure volunteer vetting and training are completed.
- Oversee corporate and community team-building projects (Regeneron Day for Doing Good, Morgan Stanley, etc.)
- Track volunteer activities in database, including hours spent, programs served, and other useful metrics for reporting purposes.
- Develop and implement volunteer recognition events and experiences.
Grant Writing:
- Research and identify potential funding sources that align with the agencys mission and goals.
- Develop and write compelling LOIs and grant proposals, working closely with key staff to gather necessary information and data.
- Maintain organized records of all grant-related activities, including calendar submission deadlines, award and denial letters, and correspondence.
- Prepare and submit required reports for awarded grants, ensuring compliance with funding requirements.
Administrative Operations:
- Process donor acknowledgement letters.
- Assist in database entry and activities related to stewardship.
- Help prepare marketing materials for community events and donor visits.
- Assist in creating marketing content for various platforms, including social media, website, newsletters and print materials.
- Assist in implementing all special events, including Loving Arms Gala, Dave Wade Memorial Golf Outing, Donor Recognition Event and Hall of Dreams Exhibits.
- Any other related duties as required.

- Writing - The Volunteer/Grants Coordinator must be able to write in the English language using correct spelling, grammar, punctuation, etc.
- Lifting - The Volunteer/Grants Coordinator may frequently lift 0-25 lbs., occasionally lift 25-50 lbs., and rarely lift over 50 lbs.
- Push/Pull - The Volunteer/Grants Coordinator may frequently push/pull 0-25 lbs. of force, occasionally push/pull 26-45 lbs. force, and rarely push/pull over 45 lbs.
- Sitting, Standing and Walking The Volunteer/Grants Coordinator will be required to sit, stand and walk throughout the work day.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee frequently works in an office environment. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate due to talk and movement of the program participants and other co- workers. The noise level can increase on occasion due to yelling or screaming by the participants of the programs.
QUALIFICATIONS
- A Bachelors degree in a related field required. Certificate in Fundraising preferred.
- Two or more years of development and communications experience preferred.
- Proven experience as a grant writer, preferably in a non-profit or human services setting.
- Knowledge of donor/volunteer management software system required, or individual must complete software-specific training.
- Exceptional technical writing and editing skills.
- Demonstrated excellence in relationship building and engagement.
- Demonstrated analytical and critical thinking skills.
- Strong computer skills knowledge of Canva, Microsoft Office Suite (particularly Excel and Word), Outlook, PowerPoint, Office 365 required.
- Experience in event planning and execution (nonprofit sector preferred).
- Strong project management skills with demonstrated ability to handle multiple projects in a fast-paced environment, and to complete them in a timely manner.
- Self-starter, motivated, resourceful, collaborative, and able to take initiative in all situations.
- Ability to learn and utilize a donor management software system (Bloomerang).
- Ability to form strong relationships with key stakeholders, leadership team members and staff at all levels.
- Demonstrated ability to help drive projects to completion and multi-task.
- Ability to create designs and content for print and online marketing materials.
- Ability to use good judgment, take initiative and make recommendations in resolving problems.
- Strong computer skills with Microsoft Office programs.
