Abby’s Catering has been providing one-of-a-kind culinary and hospitality experience since opening in 1980. Our customers are high profile passengers visiting or residing in Dallas. Celebrities, government officials, head of states, secretaries, industry leaders, all traveling out of Dallas aboard private, corporate, and commercial aircrafts are part of Abby’s valued circle of customers. Abby’s also provides exclusive gourmet delights for corporate offices, private and corporate events as well as food service management contracts.
Position:
The General Manager oversees the performance of the assigned Kitchen.
- Financial performance: meeting and beating budgets (labor, food and other costs)
- Quality Performance: providing the highest food and service standards
- Safety performance: meeting all food safety airport ramp safety and workplace safety guidelines
Analyze and improve organizational processes, and works to improve quality, productivity, and efficiency. Quality management, safety and training programs, productivity enhancements, on time performance, automation, meeting structure and motivational team building are only a few of the General Manager’s remits.
Reports to: Chief Operating Officer
Requirements:Requirements, but not limited to: This position requires a flexible work schedule within a 24/7 work environment. The airline catering industry is a seasonal business and certain peak times of the year are blackout periods for PTO (paid time off), e.g. year end, summer. This position requires experience in Leadership, Management, demanding Accountability and a high degree of Training and Teaching abilities, to lead the entire team to success (highest product quality, highest productivity and profitability output, complying with all food safety rules and regulations).
Essential functions:
- Leadership, Management and Accountability
- Grow the efficiency of existing organizational processes and procedures to enhance and sustain the organization’s internal capacity
- Lead, motivate, and support a large team within a time-sensitive and demanding environment, including setup and implementation of career development plans for all direct reports
- Manage timely data collection to update operations metrics to achieve productivity targets, reduce cost per unit, eliminate errors, and deliver excellent customer service
- Partner with cross-functional support teams in improving the proprietary tools and systems
- Excellent presentation and communication skills
- A deep understanding of data and data analytics
- General building upkeep and maintenance
- Fluent in English, bilingual Spanish speaking is a big plus
- Highly flexible and analytical, pro-active player
- Problem solver mentality, barrier remover
- In depth knowledge of food safety and OSHA standards
- Meticulous time manager with the ultimate attention to detail
- Job description includes partially working in cold room environment and physical work as needed
Qualifications
- Must have proven track record within large scale food manufacturing
- Airline Catering Industry knowledge is a big plus
- Proven experience in a similar type / size role
- Ability to read and interpret budgets, KPIs and other financial data
- Computer savvy (MS Office applications, in particular EXCEL)
- Must possess a valid Food Safety certification recognized by the local authorities
- Great integrator and communicator skills
- Ability to promote a company culture that encourages moral and performance
- Assist HR with recruiting (e.g. Job Descriptions, interviews, trainings etc.)
- HRIS “Paylocity” user is an advantage
- Eligibility for US Airport Badges for IAH and DFW (e.g. pass 10 years Federal background check)
