Join Our Team as Assistant Controller
Are you a detail-oriented accounting professional with banking experience? We’re looking for an Assistant Controller to join our finance team and support the CFO in overseeing the bank’s accounting operations. This is a great opportunity to be part of a strong community bank where your work directly supports financial accuracy, regulatory compliance, and strategic decision-making.
What You’ll Do:
- Support daily accounting operations and monitor bank and holding company financials
- Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts, including accruals and prepaid expenses
- Monitor correspondent bank balances, manage fed funds position, and initiate transfers
- Assist in the preparation of consolidated financial statements, board reports, and call reports
- Support investment portfolio management and funding strategies aligned with bank policies
- Run and analyze monthly Asset Liability Management (ALM) models and assumptions
- Calculate CECL reserve and maintain supporting documentation and software
- Help prepare tax filings and coordinate with external auditors and tax accountants
- Provide backup for reporting, lease tracking, stock transactions, and Freddie Mac custodial accounts
- Manage fixed asset records, depreciation schedules, and reconciliations
- Collaborate across departments and provide training to improve financial efficiency
What You Bring:
- A minimum 4-year degree in related course work and 5 years related banking activity, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Strong Excel and Microsoft Office skills
- Experience analyzing financial statements, tax returns, and cash flow
- Excellent communication, time management, and problem-solving skills
- Willingness to enroll in the Graduate School of Banking program (if not already completed)
- Ability to travel occasionally between bank locations
