Responsibilities:
The Associate Producer is part of a collaborative, energetic crew that produces in-depth interviews and intriguing investigative reports on a wide range of genres, subjects and interests. Every single day as an Associate Producer is different! On any one day you might:
- Book a key person for an interview.
- Develop story components and interview questions with producers.
- Check-in with the subject of a story for the latest updates.
- Coordinate travel and on-site support for a shoot.
- Assemble archive footage and other media elements for an upcoming edit.
- Bounce an idea about your career off of your mentor.
- Compose a script for a producer.
- Brainstorm different story angles; and
- Attend a Disney movie or TV show screening!
Basic Qualifications:
- Previous newsroom experience.
- Natural curiosity - you enjoy digging deeper to find the foundation to build a solid story.
- Strong editorial judgement
- Mastered digital media management.
- A flexible schedule to meet the needs of in-studio and remote shoots.
- Experience performing under pressure - think breaking news-type situations.
- A knack for being organized, especially in dynamic environments; and
- Sharp communication and people-reading skills.
Additional Qualifications:
- A pro at shooting in various formats.
- Motivated - you’re the person who can and will tackle any task.
- Familiar with editing using Avid.
- Interested in True Crime
- Willing to travel when necessary.
- Experience gathering and reading court documents.
Education
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience.
The hiring range for this position in New York is $56,400- $91,700. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
