The hours would be 12:30pm-5:45pm on Monday through Friday. The duties include:

Daily Responsibilities
- Working alongside the lead teacher and full-time assistant teacher in a classroom of eight infants
- Caring for the physical and emotional well-being of any child in the program, and in particular, your classroom. This includes diapering, assistance with potty training, wiping faces, washing hands, changing clothes as needed, assisting with self-care, negotiating play between children, and taking proactive measures to ensure a safe classroom.
- Maintaining a safe and attractive classroom that allows children to explore, play and create. This includes sanitizing toys and materials.
- Complete required forms relative to child sign-in and out, incidents, medications, daily reports, observations, emails to parents, turning them into the proper place.
- Communicate effectively with their parents, other teachers, and administration about the needs of the child and any issues that arise.

Professional Behaviors
- Showing up on time, ready to work, and with a positive attitude.
- In addition to school holidays, teachers will be allotted 5 paid days off for the school year. Other than those days, the teacher is expected to be at work every day. Applicants requiring more flexibility should not apply.
- Adherence with the policies set forth in the Employee guide, any policy additions or changes as they are made, and the Childcare Code of Ethics with regards to professional and ethical behaviors. Teachers are expected to make corrective actions once areas of growth are identified during annual evaluations or direction from administration.

- Communicate with the Executive Director and Curriculum Director about the development of children, and issues when problems arise

Teaching Duties
- Active Engagement with children through developmentally appropriate practices
- Dedication to learning and implementing the Reggio Emilia approach
- Support improvements and adjustments in the classrooms and work towards their own professional development
- Participation in bi-monthly staff meetings, professional development days, training in CPR and Health and Safety, as required by the Louisiana Department of Education and Health and Hospitals.
Qualifications
- Experience working in an early childhood setting or similar position is preferred
- Our curriculum is developed by our teachers in response to the interests of the child. Preferred candidates will demonstrate an interest in observing, making, creating, researching, and exploring.

1pm-5:45pm four days a week and 8am-5pm one day a week Monday-Friday

Compensation
The compensation for our assistant teachers ranges from $13.25-$15 an hour. All teachers are paid on the days school is closed (totaled 28 days in the 2021-2022 school year) As part of the Louisiana Pathways Career Development System, our teachers qualify for scholarships (associates, bachelors, and masters levels) and tax credits. As a Type III licensed child care provider, teachers qualify for free child development workshops provided by Agenda for Children.
