GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

The Child Watch Caregiver provides a YMCA membership service by caring for children in Child Watch while the member participates in exercise or a YMCA activity or program. To care for the children in a way that reflects the four YMCA values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility. The Child Watch is a drop in service at the YMCA and is available during designated hours for our members. Part-time employees receive an individual YMCA membership!
All shifts available during Child Watch hours
JOB REQUIREMENTS, PREFERRED EDUCATION, TRAINING AND WORK EXPERIENCE:
Must be minimum of 18 years old
Demonstrate ability to relate well with youth
Must be capable of caring for children from 6 weeks to 6 years of age.
Working knowledge of computer systems and programs.
CPR/First Aid Certification (can be obtained upon hire through employer)
Willingness to fill in as an occasional substitute as needed to ensure staff coverage for Child Watch hours.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Essential functions are those tasks, duties, and responsibilities that comprise the means of accomplishing the job’s purpose and objectives. Essential functions are critical or fundamental to the
performance of the job. They are the major functions for which the person in the job is held accountable.
Greet patrons, develop positive relations and maintain a fun, controlled and safe environment.
Interact and play with the Child Watch children.
Communicate with the parents/caregivers regarding the child’s stay.
Complete incident and accident reports as required.
Follow established Child Watch procedures and complete closing procedures.
May be asked to assist with YMCA special events, be involved in community activities, and promote YMCA membership, programs and services.
Complete other duties as assigned in Job Description.
