QUALIFICATIONS:
- Valid Washington State Teaching Certificate with a music endoresment required.
- Extensive training in vocal and instrumental music.
- Strong skills and background in instructional methods and strategies.
- Ability to use a variety of teaching materials and strategies to plan and carry out instructions to meet the varied needs of diverse learners.
- Demonstrated evidence of classroom management skills to provide a productive learning environment.
- Ability to develop, modify and adjust curriculum to meet the individual needs of students.
- Ability to participate in collaborative planning, programming, and instructional activities.
- Ability to establish rapport with students, colleagues, and administrators.
- Ability to work effectively and cooperatively with staff and a strong parent support group.
- Ability to attend zero hour jazz band and attend evening activities and trips.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Direct a balanced vocal and instrumental music program
- Work cooperatively with administration and staff to develop and implement instructional programs and activities.
- Effectively teach the approved curriculum using appropriate instructional methods and materials to meet district objectives for student learning.
- Effectively communicate learning progress with students and parents.
- Establish and maintain appropriate standards for classroom behavior to provide a safe, supportive and productive learning environment.
- Assist in articulation and evaluation of the total music program in cooperation with other music instructors.
- Direct and coordinate extra curricular programs, evening concerts, in-school concerts and activities.
- Participate in school/district meetings, in-services and professional development activities.
- Direct and supervise students at concerts, sporting events, festivals, contests and other music events.
- Work effectively and cooperatively with parent booster group.
- Maintain required reports and records.
- Direct activities of non-certificated personnel, if required.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of research-based best practices.
- Other duties as assigned.
