Overview:
Responsible for the day-to-day operations related to medical records.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Performs insurance coverage and grant eligibility verifications by making full review of benefits.
- Forwards verification information to Medical Intake Coordinator within 15 minutes of referral.
- Ensures maintenance of patient medical records including obtaining MD orders in a timely fashion.
- Follow established protocols for managing medical records through the normal office flow
- Complies with all laws and regulations for the release of confidential patient records
- Follow up on outstanding required documentation, such as clinical and physician signatures.
- Maintain master medical record file.
- Log, scan and file signed orders upon receipt.
- Audit discharged patient records to ensure that all required documentation is present.
- Send Discharge Summaries and Progress Notes to physicians' offices and nursing agencies.
- Assists financial team with clerical tasks.
- Participates in quality management and quality assurance activities.
- Other tasks as assigned by the Billing Manager.
- Field retrieval/drop-off orders as necessary
Education, Experience, Licensure/Certification and Skills/Abilities Related Requirements:
High School Diploma required.
Associates Degree preferred. At least four (4) years of practical work experience.
Must have paid experience with medical claims coding/billing and medical insurance industry.
Each additional year of practical work experience beyond the required four (4) years can be substituted for one (1) year of college.
Continuing Education and Training Requirements:
Participates in trainings required by the funding source and/or as required by licensure
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $15.00 - $20.00 per hour
