Water Resources Senior Project Manager Chantilly, VA (Onsite)
ABGI Talent Solutions is seeking a Water Resources Senior Project Manager on behalf of a respected design firm based in Chantilly, VA. This opportunity is ideal for a licensed civil engineer with a strong technical background in stormwater management, floodplain and dam analysis, and team leadership.
This individual will work directly with the Director of Water Resources to manage team operations and projects across a wide range of public and private sector clients, including municipal, state, and federal agencies.
About the Role:
The selected candidate will oversee a diverse portfolio of water resources projects ranging in scale and complexityfrom large, mixed-use developments to highly technical federal assignments. This is a hands-on leadership position that includes project oversight, QA/QC, team management, and client engagement. You will help drive operational excellence within the Water Resources Team, guide staff development, and support strategic growth through client and contract management.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage stormwater management design, floodplain analysis, and dam breach modeling and permitting
- Conduct QA/QC on stormwater reports, construction documents, permit applications, and certifications
- Review hydrologic and hydraulic (H&H) models and technical reports
- Research and apply regulatory codes and standards across multiple jurisdictions
- Lead project planning, scheduling, and coordination with internal/external teams
- Oversee team assignments and supervise multiple engineers across concurrent projects
- Facilitate meetings and coordination with regulatory agencies
- Prepare proposals, additional work authorizations (AWAs), and client billing
- Support business development and general client management
- Lead construction administration activities as needed
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering or related field
- Minimum of 10 years of related water resources experience
- Professional Engineer (PE) license in Virginia (or ability to obtain in other states as required)
- Previous experience managing project teams and client engagements
- Strong background in stormwater, floodplain, and dam design (VA experience required; DC and MD preferred)
- Proficiency with H&H modeling software: HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, HEC-1, HY-8, Flowmaster
- Excellent organizational, analytical, and quality control skills
- Strong written and verbal communication abilities
- Self-driven and adaptable to various regulatory requirements
Preferred Qualifications:
- Proficiency with ArcMap or similar GIS software
- Experience with AutoCAD
- Familiarity with multi-jurisdictional projects and permitting processes
