Clinical Director - SUD and Mental Health

The Clinical Director is responsible for coordinating day-to-day clinical operations and maintaining facility compliance requirements. Ensures treatment services are provided to each client via appropriate training and management of clinical staff. Provides leadership and feedback to the clinical team on a consistent basis. The Clinical Director reports to the Chief Clinical Officer.

Duties and Responsibilities :

  • Ensure the clinical treatment programs are effectively administered and meet regulatory requirements.
  • Supervise clinical staff and manage counselor caseloads to comply with licensure standards.
  • Identify and implement programming needed to meet client needs.
  • Ensure staff documentation meets the criteria for appropriate level of care according to compliance regulations.
  • Ability to perform program evaluation and develop growth strategies in coordination with organizational goals across various levels of care.
  • Participate as a team member in providing an optimum environment for client recovery and provider wellbeing.
  • Maintain a client caseload as appropriate to census providing individualized treatment for each case.
  • Co-lead process group and / or any clinically oriented groups on an as needed basis.
  • Provide initial training and orientation as well as on-going leadership and support to all members of the clinical department to ensure that they have the tools necessary to carry out their job responsibilities.
  • Provide reports to CCO on staff development, administration issues and compliance concerns.
  • Collaborate with CCO to ensure clinical staff remains informed of policy and regulatory changes and updates staff on changes as appropriate.
  • Provide oversight to intern program.
  • Provide on-call support in conjunction with clinical staff when necessary.
  • Provide administrative supervision for all clinical staff.
  • Participate in the facility Quality Assurance program.
  • Intervene as necessary on issues relating to client complaints, concerns and operational issues.
  • Work collaboratively with Lead Counselor to ensure appropriate clinical supervision of clinical team.
  • Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements :

  • Master’s Degree required in Psychology, Social Work, Behavioral Sciences or closely related field.
  • Must hold minimum of LCPC, LCSW-C.
  • Board approved supervisor for Drug and Alcohol Counselors or must be able to obtain within 60 days.
  • Must have experience in oversight of running multiple programs.
  • Five (5) years of experience in counseling and program administration relating to addiction.
  • Strong knowledge of the Medicaid billing process.
  • Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required :

  • Possess good oral and written communication skills.
  • Experienced and / or knowledgeable in providing education and therapeutic counseling for individuals and for groups.
  • Experienced and capable of identifying appropriate resources for client development and providing substance abuse counseling.
  • Capable of discerning facts from opinions and remaining objective when listening to conflicting opinions.
  • Possess excellent counseling and documentation skills.
  • Ability to diagnose substance abuse / dependency and mental health disorders.
  • Experienced in working with diverse populations.
  • Possess good time management skills needed to meet aggressive deadlines and prioritize multiple tasks.
  • Ability to lead and manage a team to successfully achieve goals.
  • Patience, perseverance, and resilience in a challenging environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office software including Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • Ability to navigate electronic medical records.
