Shop Assistant

Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Shop/Mechanic Assistant to join our concrete construction company. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in supporting the mechanic and shop operations by assisting with various tasks, ensuring that our vehicles and equipment run smoothly and efficiently. This position requires a blend of mechanical knowledge and hands-on skills to contribute effectively to our goals.

Duties

• Assist in getting crew trucks and equipment ready to leave the shop in the morning.
• Operate hand tools and power tools safely and effectively.
• Pick up parts and other items as needed for the business.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area within the shop and parts arears.
• Perform routine maintenance on equipment and tools to ensure optimal performance.
• Follow safety protocols and guidelines to promote a safe working environment
• Skills
• Strong mechanical knowledge and/or the willingness to learn.
• Proficiency in using hand tools and power tools safely.
• Familiarity with light mechanical repairs, i.e. change tires, light bulb and help drivers with pre-trip inspection.
• Ability to fabricate components based on specifications or drawings.
• Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $18.00 - $22.00 per hour
