Abilene High School is seeking applications for the position of Head Cheer Coach. This position starts with tryouts in late March and continues with summer responsibilities leading into next year.
Performance Responsibilities
- Oversee tryouts and select participants following established guidelines.
- Coach participants in skills necessary for success.
- Plan and schedule a regular practice program.
- Collaborate with the Athletic Director to schedule practices to align with facility space and usage.
- Recommend equipment, supplies, and uniforms for purchase.
- Prepare and adhere to the approved budget.
- Maintain required paperwork and eligibility checks in coordination with the AD office.
- Ensure the safety of facilities and areas where the practices/competitions are conducted.
- Attend required KSHSAA meetings and fulfill its test requirements.
- Arrange transportation for events.
- Maintain accurate inventory of equipment, uniforms, and supplies.
- Communicate effectively and foster positive relationships.
- Inform participants about school policies, activities, eligibility, and team rules.
- Distribute and care for equipment.
- Implement a program for injury prevention.
- Supervise all contests, meets, and practices along with organize, attend, and supervise summer camp.
- Submit budget requests to the Athletic Director.
- Supervise participants after practices, meets, or games until transportation home is ensured.
- Supervise and evaluate Assistant Coaches.
- Support the District’s educational mission and enforce Board policies equitably.
- Perform additional tasks and responsibilities as assigned by the Athletic Director/Administration.
