DSP (Direct Support Professional)

Job Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Direct Support Professional to provide essential care and support to individuals with varying needs in a home or community setting. This role is crucial in enhancing the quality of life for our clients by promoting independence and dignity while ensuring their safety and well-being. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of resident rights and have experience in home health, assisted living, or similar environments.

Responsibilities

• Assist clients with daily living activities, including personal hygiene, meal preparation, and medication management.
• Provide patient observation to monitor health changes and report any concerns to appropriate personnel.
• Support clients with mobility and transportation needs, ensuring their safety at all times.
• Engage clients in meaningful activities that promote social interaction and mental stimulation.
• Maintain a clean and safe environment for clients, adhering to all health and safety regulations.
• Document client progress and any significant changes in behavior or health status accurately.
• Provide compassionate care to individuals with dementia or other cognitive impairments, utilizing effective communication techniques.
• Assist with vital signs monitoring as needed, ensuring proper documentation is maintained.
• Offer first aid assistance when necessary, following established protocols for emergencies.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent; relevant certifications in home health or caregiving preferred.
• Experience in assisted living, hospice care, or home community care is highly desirable.
• Knowledge of resident rights and the ability to advocate for clients effectively.
• Strong observational skills with the ability to recognize changes in client conditions.
• Excellent interpersonal skills with a compassionate approach to caregiving.
• Ability to perform basic first aid and CPR; certification preferred but not required upon hire.
• Must be able to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends as needed.
• A valid driver’s license may be required depending on job location and client needs.

Pay: $17.85 - $18.00 per hour
