What are the responsibilities and job description for the Sr Network Engineer position at ABM US?
Responsibilities:
- Primary focus on the support and development of the ABM Data Center Network
- Utilize and participate in creation of designs and standards, ensuring the adherence to these measures across the environment
- Project Delivery for important initiatives such as site builds and refreshes as well as modernizing existing infrastructure as a part of lifecycle management
- Environment Support including ServiceNow incidents and requests, Major Incident troubleshooting and collaboration, etc.
- Perform within the Plan/Build/Operate model at roughly 20% Planning & 80% Build/Operate
- Participation in the Lifecycle Management Process ensuring the stable operation of the production network including planning, developing, installing, configuring, maintaining, supporting, & optimizing all network hardware, software, and data connectivity links with the assistance of Network Services team members
- Utilization of the Network Services Team’s Documentation Strategy, including project, support & backlog tracking, documentation generation and archival processes with an emphasis on technical debt and tribal knowledge elimination
- Maintain detailed network documentation, including diagrams, configurations, and procedures.
- Stay current with industry trends, technologies, and best practices in networking.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including systems administrators, application developers, information security and IT support
- Monitor and analyze network performance, troubleshoot issues, and optimize network configurations.
- Manage and maintain network configurations, firmware, and software updates.
- Develop and enforce network policies, standards, and procedures.
- Conduct research and make recommendations on network infrastructure, services, protocols, and standards in anticipation and in advance of the business need, e.g. identifying toolsets, configurations and performing analysis to identify and remediate and improve the team’s understanding and ability to remediate deficiencies
- Provide guidance and support to more junior team members, conducting and overseeing training sessions, standards, and best practices overviews
- Participation in a weekly on call rotation to support the production environment

- Mentor junior network engineers and provide technical guidance to team members.

Qualifications:
- Any combination of requirements, which provide knowledge and abilities necessary to perform essential duties and responsibilities, will be considered.
- 8 years of experience in Network Engineering with Data Center Network Technologies, such as Load Balancers, WAN Optimizers, SD-WAN, Cisco Data Center technologies (Cisco ACI, Nexus, ASR/ISR Routers), Meraki, Wireless LAN Controllers
- Experience planning greenfield Data Center build & migration activities including the use of VXLAN or Overlay Transport Virtualization (OTV)
- 4 years of experience with Cisco ACI, Spine/Leaf Architecture or other versions of Network SDN Strong knowledge of networking protocols (TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, etc.) and technologies (VPN, LAN, WAN, WLAN). Network Troubleshooting skillset in a Data Center & Campus environment
- Demonstrated capability to build and support a Layer 2 & Layer 3 production network environment (e.g. router & switch IOS/NXOS upgrades, design, configuration & support of a production network)
- Familiarity with cloud networking concepts and technologies (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) is a plus.
- Undergraduate degree in computer science, systems analysis, related study or equivalent combination of education and work experience that provides the knowledge and abilities necessary to perform the work
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities Ability to research, identify and recommend industry best practices (using existing, new, and emerging technologies) for solving business problems
- Ability to maintain knowledge of IT network architecture, standards and practices and consistently apply these standards
- Ability to communicate complex technical solutions to both technical and non-technical audiences Ability of working as a team or individual contributor
Preferred Qualification:
- Cisco Professional level certification (CCNP, CCDP, CCIE) or equivalent experience
- 2 years of experience with Cisco Identity Service Engine (ISE) or another 3rd party Network Access Control (NAC) product
- 1 years of experience with Cisco Unified Call Manager (CUCM)
- 1 years of experience with Cloud computing (Azure, AWS, or GCP)
- Experience with Network Automation (e.g. Ansible, Terraform, Puppet) Enterprise Network Monitoring software experience (SolarWinds Orion)
- Experience developing strategies for implementation of QoS, and Multicast Experiencing with packet capture and analysis tools, NetFlow, IP SLA, etc.

- Must have the ability to provide documentation verifying legal work status.
- Ability to read and speak the English language proficiently to communicate with others, understand and interpret safety instructions, and to respond to inquiries.
