Abonmarche is seeking a Landscape Architect Intern or CO-OP candidate in our South Bend and/or Goshen, IN office(s). Must be willing to travel and work between the two offices. Preferred candidates to be located within an hour of either office.
Job Summary:
Plans and designs development of land areas for projects such as parks and other recreational facilities, airports, highways, and parkways, hospitals, schools, land subdivisions, and commercial, industrial, and residential sites by performing the following duties.
Responsibilities:
Provides support to engineering and architectural departments.
Performs large and small scale site planning, landscape design and development, site grading, planting plans and lighting plans.
Understanding of hard and soft landscape elements.
Assists with the developing, reviewing, and interpreting plans and specs.
Complies and analyzes data on such site conditions as geographic location; soil, vegetation, and topography; drainage; and location of structures for preparation of environmental impact reports and development of site plans and landscaping plans.
Prepares site plans, working drawings, specifications, details, and cost estimates for land development, showing ground contours, vegetation, locations of structures, and such facilities as roads, walks, parking areas, fences, walls, and utilities, coordination arrangement of existing and proposed land features and structures.
Assists with inspecting construction work in progress to ensure compliance with landscape specifications, to approve quality of materials and work, and to advise client and construction personnel on landscape features.
Other duties may be assigned.
Education:
Currently seeking a Bachelors Degree in Landscape Architecture
Licensure/Certification/Registration:
Internship available for the summer of 2025; If a CO-OP is desired, a 12-month duration preferred
Work Experience/Qualifications:
Understanding of landscape architectural principles of design, both technically and creatively.
Designs, develops, modifies, and reviews drawings and site plans.
Proficient in AutoCAD.
Proficient hand graphics or computer-generated graphics (using software such as Photoshop, InDesign, Lumion, Sketch-Up, or Illustrator).
