Mechanical Engineering Intern (MEI)
The Position
The Mechanical Engineering Intern for Above Group shall contribute and support HVAC, Plumbing, Fire Protection, Process, and Utility Engineering efforts for the firm. The MEI shall be in the process of obtaining a bachelors degree in mechanical or architectural engineering or equivalent, from an ABET accredited institution. This individual shall directly contribute to the Firm and its success through the development of knowledge and technical experience to effectively produce a quality design and ultimate product to the customer. The MEI shall execute design duties as required to ensure quality is always maintained.
The MEI is in the process of becoming a Mechanical Engineer by education and experience :
- Ability to combine personal judgment with information to implement design criteria.
- Review most current applicable building codes where the project is located.
- Maintain a clear line of communication with current Engineer leads and managers on projects, timelines and deadlines.
- Coordinate with all team members the implemented layout of distribution systems and equipment location.
- Proficient knowledge of computer software including Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.
- Knowledge in AutoCAD and Revit software program a plus.
- Ability to apply engineering principles to resolve engineering problems and tasks as assigned.
- Developing knowledge in heat transfer, fluid mechanics, and the willingness to learn fire protection, HVAC, mechanical, plumbing and utility systems.
- Developing proficiency of mechanical concepts including Psychometrics, Heat Transfer and Fluid Flow both compressible and incompressible.
- Developing ability to use computer software including Trane Trace, eQuest, and Microsoft Office.
- Ability to work well in a team environment and as an individual. Communicates well with individuals in the organization.
- Capable of interpreting information set forth in a Basis of Design, field surveys and code research.
- Work alongside Engineers to gain insight on their vision and be able to relate that onto drawings and designs.
