ABP Capital is a private lending and investment company that invests in a variety of asset classes. The company is growing rapidly and seeks a motivated and experienced Portfolio Analyst to assist the Underwriting and Portfolio Manager with analysis, underwriting, and post-closing management of commercial loan packages. The role will be an in-person role based in Dallas that will also involve the ongoing reporting and management of owned real estate assets in markets across the country.
To be successful, candidates will need to be well organized, personable, able to critically think through credit underwriting/real estate evaluation, detail oriented, and self-motivated.
Responsibilities:
- Evaluate the creditworthiness of commercial real estate loans by interpreting real estate data, third party reports, internal proformas, corporate and personal financial statements, corporate and personal tax returns, cash flow projections, and more.
- Interpret and analyze data derived from industry tools, such as CoStar, the MLS, and other data sources.
- Manage a deal’s closing timeline and internal/external checklist to ensure closing dates are met and requested reports and diligence items are delivered on time.
- Order, review, and analyze documents and reports for the related collateral, including, but not limited to property appraisals, environmental assessments, construction plan sets, legal opinions, and zoning reports.
- Interface with internal/external accounting, legal, construction, and finance teams to facilitate underwriting, closing, and other deadlines.
- Prepare detailed credit memorandums and asset summaries for executive-level presentation and approval.
- Prepare and/or review monthly asset summaries that detail monthly changes and updates to portfolio loans and real estate assets
- Track a loan and/or real estate asset’s performance and adherence to covenants, deadlines, and budget.
- Interface with customers and industry professionals while adhering to a leading standard of professionalism.
- Build and maintain relationships with clients and stakeholders to ensure a seamless loan management process.
- Collaborate with leadership to identify and implement strategies that maximize portfolio performance and growth.
Qualifications:
- General knowledge of banking, commercial and residential real estate underwriting, and credit lending principles and regulations.
- Broad understanding of real estate financial ratios and other cash flow data.
- In-depth knowledge of Excel, Word, as well as familiarity with other Microsoft Office programs.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; critical decision-making skills and sensitivity when dealing with confidential information.
- Ability to work under pressure, prioritize workflow, and resolve conflicts.
- Well-developed organizational and time management skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills to effectively manage relationships with clients and cross-functional teams
Education, Training and Professional Experience Preferences:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or equivalent field of study from an accredited university.
- 2-5 years of experience in real estate lending, underwriting, banking, or asset management.
