What are the responsibilities and job description for the Fire Alarm/Fire Sprinkler Inspector position at ABS?
We are seeking a knowledgeable and detail‐oriented Fire Protection Systems Inspector to join our team in Nevada. In this role, you will ensure that fire protection systems—including fire alarm, sprinkler, and suppression systems—meet all applicable state and local codes, including the Nevada Administrative Code (NAC) and NFPA standards.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct Comprehensive Inspections:
Perform field inspections of fire protection systems (fire alarms, automatic sprinkler systems, fire pumps, and suppression systems) to verify compliance with Nevada fire codes (e.g., NAC Chapter 477) and NFPA standards (e.g., NFPA 72, NFPA 13, NFPA 25).
Documentation and Reporting:
Prepare detailed inspection reports, noting any deficiencies or non-compliant conditions, and provide recommendations for corrective actions. Maintain inspection records in accordance with state fire marshal requirements.
Regulatory Compliance:
Ensure that fire protection systems adhere to Nevada State Fire Marshal regulations, local fire codes, and standards adopted by jurisdictions such as Clark County and the City of Las Vegas. Keep up-to-date with legislative changes affecting fire protection.
Collaboration and Communication:
Work closely with building owners, contractors, and fire department officials to communicate inspection findings and guide compliance improvements. Provide technical advice on fire protection system installation, maintenance, and repair.
Certification Oversight:
Verify that installers and maintenance personnel possess proper certifications and adhere to standards, ensuring that all systems are inspected and tested as required by law.
Qualifications
Experience:
Minimum of 2–3 years of experience in fire protection/fire alarm inspection, fire safety engineering, or a related field, preferably within Nevada.
Certifications:
Certification as a Fire Inspector (e.g., NICET, International Code Council) or the ability to obtain state-mandated certifications issued by the Nevada State Fire Marshal.
Familiarity with NAC 477 and relevant NFPA standards is required.
Technical Skills:
Strong understanding of fire protection systems/fire alarm systems and building construction principles as they relate to fire safety. Proficiency in reading blueprints and technical specifications.
Attention to Detail:
Excellent organizational, analytical, and written communication skills, with a keen eye for detail to identify potential hazards and non-compliance issues.
Must be able to pass background check to access federal buildings.
